Model-Based Software and Data Integration ; 1st International Workshop, MBSDI 2008, Berlin, Germany, April 1-3, 2008. Proceedings
The First International Workshop on Model-Based Software and Data Integ- tion (MBSDI 2008), was ourfrst event of this kind in a forthcoming series of activities at TU Berlin, where a scientifc discussion and exchange forum was provided for both academic and industrial researchers. We aimed at researchers, engineersand practitionerswho focus onadvanced, model-basedsolutions inthe area of software and information integration and interoperability. As withevery beginning, the resonanceonour callsin today's overfoodingof workshops was somewhat unpredictable, and we did not really know how many paper submissions to expect. We were nicely surprised, considering the rather short lead time to organize the meeting and the very specialized and focused topic.
Information technology auditing : An evolving agenda
An evolving agenda of Information Technology Auditing is subject of this book. The author presents various current and future issues in the domain of IT Auditing in both scholarly as well as highly practice-driven manner so as to make those issues clear in the mind of an IT auditor. The aim of the book is not to delve deep on the technologies but the impact of these technologies on practices and procedures of IT auditors. Among the topics are complex integrated information systems, enterprise resource planning, databases, complexities of internal controls, and enterprise application integration - all seen from an auditor's perspective. The book will serve a big purpose of support reference for an auditor dealing with the high-tech environment for the first time, but also for experienced auditors.

Enterprise interoperability : New challenges and approaches
Interoperability: the ability of a system or a product to work with other systems or products without special effort from the user is a key issue in manufacturing and industrial enterprise generally. It is fundamental to the production of goods and services quickly and at low cost at the same time as maintaining levels of quality and customisation. Interoperability is achieved if internal and external collaborators can interact on at least three levels: data, applications and business enterprise (through the architecture of an enterprise model and making allowance for the semantics of both partners). Not only a problem of software and IT technologies, it implies support for communication and transactions between different organisations that must be based on shared business references. Today, a new and important consideration must be taken into account – economic business evaluation and the definition of dissemination policy.
E-Government : Towards electronic democracy ; International Conference, TCGOV 2005, Bolzano, Italy, March 2-4, 2005, Proceedings
The TCGOV 2005 international conference on e-government was held at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano during March 2–4, 2005. The conference was initiated by the working group “Towards Electronic Democracy” (TED) of the European Science Foundation and was jointly organized by the Free University ofBozen-Bolzano,theMunicipalityofBozen-Bolzano,theTEDWorkingGroup, and the IFIP Working Group 8.5. The conference addressed a large spectrum of issues that are relevant and have to be investigated for a successful transition from the traditional form of government to a new form known as e-government. The main focus was on the following topics: – improving citizen participation and policy making (e-democracy) – government application integration – semantic Web technologies for e-government – security aspects for e-government services Two sessions were dedicated to e-democracy, an emerging area within- government that seeks to enhance democratic processes and provide increased opportunities for individuals and communities to be involved in governmental decisions.

To support businesses managed through an organizational structure oriented by business processes, it is essential that the manager has a set of knowledge, technical skills, and professional demeanor.
