Object-Oriented Software Engineering Using UML Patterns and Java
Shows students how to use both the principles of software engineering and the practices of various object-oriented tools, processes, and products. Using a step-by-step case study to illustrate the concepts and topics in each chapter, Bruegge and Dutoit emphasize learning object-oriented software engineer through practical experience: students can apply the techniques learned in class by implementing a real-world software project. The third edition addresses new trends, in particular agile project management (Chapter 14 Project Management) and agile methodologies (Chapter 16 Methodologies).

They also probe new domains of pharmaceutical research, offering the reader a wealth of new drug discovery opportunities emerging in this dynamic field
Nutritional Management of the Surgical Patient
Provides the first comprehensive evidence-based overview of the nutritional and dietary therapies for surgical patients. It takes clinicians through every stage of surgery, from pre-operative and immediate post-operative care, through to long term recovery and survivorship. This book describes the impact of surgical procedures and their complications and the effect these have on nutritional status as well as the nutritional strategies utilised to manage patients in these settings.
Nutrition, Health and Disease : A Lifespan Approach
Delivers an easy-to-read and student-friendly textbook on the changing demands for nutrients made by the body throughout the human lifespan.
Nutrition and diet in health: Principles and applications
Food provides us with essential nutrients involved in many physiological activities and biological processes in the body including growth and development, metabolism, immune function, and overall well-being. Nutrition and Diet in Health: Principles and Applications reviews and discusses the issues related to the roles of nutrition and diets in human health and diseases. The book contains two sections - one section features principles, the other, covers applications. Part One provides information on sustainable use of nutrition and diets in health and diseases; advanced biotechnological approaches to improve nutritional content of food; trace elements in nutrition; drug and nutrient interactions; functional foods and nutraceuticals in health maintenance; and Bio markers of functional foods and nutraceuticals in health maintenance. Part Two discusses the significance of nutrition in selected human diseases, including cardiovascular diseases, cancer, infection, neurodegenerative diseases, and metabolic co-morbidities. It also discusses optimal nutrition for wellness, fitness, pregnancy, mental health, aging, and longevity.
Numerical Methods in Finance
The use of mathematical models and numerical techniques in finance is a growing practice, and an increasing number of applied mathematicians are working on applications in finance and business. This book presents some exciting developments arising from the combination of mathematics, numerical analysis, and finance. It covers a wide range of topics, from portfolio management and asset pricing, to performance, risk, debt and real option evaluation. It also presents applications of a variety of cutting edge approaches and techniques, including robust control, min-max optimisation, Bessel processes, stochastic viability, variational inequalities, and Monte-Carlo test techniques. The book also presents surveys of models and approaches in specific areas in finance, such as corporate debt valuation and portfolio selection

Nuclear back-end and transmutation technology for waste disposal : Beyond the Fukushima accident
Covers essential aspects of transmutation technologies, highlighting especially the advances in Japan. The accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) has caused us to focus attention on a large amount of spent nuclear fuels stored in NPPs. In addition, public anxiety regarding the treatment and disposal of high-level radioactive wastes that require long-term control is growing. The Japanese policy on the back-end of the nuclear fuel cycle is still unpredictable in the aftermath of the accident. Therefore, research and development for enhancing the safety of various processes involved in nuclear energy production are being actively pursued worldwide.
NSTAR 2007 ; Proceedings of The 11th Workshop on The Physics of Excited Nucleons, 5–8 September 2007, Bonn, Germany
The excitation spectrum of the nucleon offers insights into the non-perturbative regime of QCD. The NStar workshops are a series of meetings that bring together experimenters and theoreticians working on baryon resonances and related areas. This work covers the proceedings that constitute an archival record of the progress in the field.
Novel drug delivery systems : Fundamentals and applications
Serves as a unique resource on the field of novel drug delivery systems (NDDSs). The evolving nature of diseases and the emergence of new health complications have driven a significant shift in drug therapy. Coupled with changes in human lifestyles and economic conditions, these factors have compelled the pharmaceutical industry to develop novel, efficient, and affordable drug products. The rise of promising technologies aimed at enhancing therapeutic performance further underscores the importance of novel drug delivery systems (NDDSs), making this field one of the most dynamic in pharmaceutical sciences today.
Northeast Asia : Ripe for Integration?
Can regional mechanisms better institutionalize the increasing complexity of economic and security ties among the countries in Northeast Asia? As the international state system undergoes dramatic changes in both security and economic relations in the wake of the end of the Cold War, the Asian financial crisis, and the attack of 9/11, this question is now at the forefront of the minds of both academics and policymakers. Still, little research has been done to integrate the analysis of security and economic analysis of changes in the region within a broader context that will give us theoretically-informed policy insights. Against this backdrop, this book investigates the origins and evolution of Northeast Asia's new institutional architecture in trade, finance, and security from both a theoretical and empirical perspective.
Non-spectral Asymptotic Analysis of One-Parameter Operator Semigroups
In this book, non-spectral methods are presented and discussed that have been developed over the last two decades for the investigation of asymptotic behavior of one-parameter operator semigroups in Banach spaces. This concerns in particular Markov semigroups in L1-spaces, motivated by applications to probability theory and dynamical systems. Recently many results on the asymptotic behaviour of Markov semigroups were extended to positive semigroups in Banach lattices with order-continuous norm, and to positive semigroups in non-commutative L1-spaces. Related results, historical notes, exercises, and open problems accompany each chapter.
Nonlinear Oscillations in Mechanical Engineering
Nonlinear Oscillations in Mechanical Engineering explores the effects of nonlinearities encountered in applications in that field. Since the nonlinearities are caused, first of all, by contacts between different mechanical parts, the main part of this book is devoted to oscillations in mechanical systems with discontinuities caused by dry friction and collisions.
Nonlinear Dynamics of Structures Under Extreme Transient Loads

A number of illustrations are given quantifying; a plane crash or explosion induced impact loading, the effects of strong earthquake motion, and the impact and long-duration effects of strong stormy winds—along with a relevant framework for using modern computational tools. The book considers the levels of reserve in existing structures, and ways of reducing the negative impact of high-risk situations by employing sounder design procedures.
