The Nature of Supply Chain Management Research : Insights from a Content Analysis of International Supply Chain Management Literature from 1990 to 2006
Julia Wolf focuses on the theoretical aspect of SCM by analyzing the evolution SCM research has undergone and by assessing the question whether SCM research can be considered a scientific paradigm as of today. A number of factors are investigated based on empirical data gathered from publications on SCM in international refereed journals from 1990 to 2006. As a result, four major periods are distinguished in the evolution of SCM research: emergence, acceptance, growth and a final phase of establishment. These periods are characterized in terms of the following factors and their alterations over time: scientific values, object of study, constructs, methods, schools of thought, and the link of research to practice.

With the aim of shedding new and fresh light on the problem of the nature of the gamma-ray sources, particularly those yet unidentified, this book summarizes contributions to a workshop that continues with the series initiated by the meeting held at Tonantzintla in October 2000, and Hong-Kong in May 2004. This books will be of interest for all active researchers in the field of high energy astrophysics and astroparticle physics, as well as for graduate students entering into the subject.
The Microstructure of European Bond Markets : Organization, Price Formation, and Cost of Liquidity
The volumes outstanding in bond markets are by far larger than in equity markets. Despite this fact, research on the microstructure of financial markets is mainly focused on equity markets. Because of the differences between bond and equity markets, theoretical as well as empirical results from equity markets cannot be transferred to bond markets.
The Management of Continuous Product Development : Empirical Research in the Online Game Industry
Discusses theoretically and empirically the trade-off relationship between the frequency of product adaptation activities and the constraints on development resources, and how companies can respond to these constraints. The objective of this book is to identify effective management practices in continuous product development. With the continuation of development activities, companies are required to constantly adapt their products to changes in the external environment. In continuous product development, the development process extends beyond product release, and interaction with the external environment is not limited to the planning stage but occurs multiple times throughout the process.
The Linearization Of Affixes : Evidence From Nuu-Chah-Nulth
The linearization of syntactic constructs stands at the forefront of current research on the syntax-phonology interface. This book examines the problem of linearization from a new perspective: that of the linearization of affixes. The driving proposal of this book is that affixation provides a means of satisfying the universal requirement that linguistic outputs be linearized. This hypothesis is tested against extensive original data from Nuu-chah-nulth ("Nootka"; Wakashan family), an endangered Amerindian language remarkable for its complex morphology. This volume introduces typologically rare affixation effects to current theoretical debates surrounding the division of labour between the modules of the grammar.
The linear algebra : A beginning graduate student ought to know
Linear algebra is a living, active branch of mathematics which is central to almost all other areas of mathematics, both pure and applied, as well as computer science, the physical and social sciences, and engineering. It entails an extensive corpus of theoretical results as well as a large body of computational techniques. The volume is self-contained to the extent that it does not assume any previous formal knowledge of linear algebra.
The Knowledge Ahead Approach to Risk : Theory and Experimental Evidence
this little book makes a strong point for a new approach to decision making under risk. It emphasizes aspects of risk preferences largely neglected in the theoretical and experimental lite- ture. Before the outcome of a risky decision is known a decision maker may feel worries or thrills about what will happen at the end. It is c- vincingly argued that the anticipation of such ”secondary satisfactions” is, and should be, an important in?uence on the decision. The questi- naire data and the experiments support this view. The answers of participants in the questionnaires about the reasons for their decision are an important basis for the evaluation of the - periment. The evaluation of these questionnaires has led to impressive ndings.
The Intrinsic Aspects of the Vigorous Placebo and Nocebo Effect
Observes the physiological effects of the placebo and nocebo effects. A detailed elaboration about placebo drugs and placebo effects is presented in the theoretical part of this research, along with explaining the complicated pathways of the placebo effect‘s mechanisms. Further information about the nocebo effect is also explained with the factors that influence the degree of that effect. As for the practical research, the first procedure focused on revealing the placebo effect on opioid receptors. The first two days focused on conditioning the mice and by the third day, the results were compared to show if there was a placebo effect tendency according to the length of the response latency.
The Interior Architecture Theory Reader
Presents a global compilation that collectively and specifically defines interior architecture. Diverse views and comparative resources for interior architecture students, educators, scholars, and practitioners are needed to develop a proper canon for this young discipline. As a theoretical survey of interior architecture, the book examines theory, history, and production to embrace a full range of interior identities in architecture, interior design, digital fabrication, and spatial installation. Authored by leading educators, theorists, and practitioners, fifty chapters refine and expand the discourse surrounding interior architecture.
The Intelligent Enterprise : Theoretical Concepts and Practical Implications
Today's enterprises have to continuously extend their operational limits to earn profit, thrive and prosper. Over time evolution led to the development of two concepts to master this challenge: intelligence and knowledge. This work introduces a system theoretic perspective on enterprises, regarding them as natural living systems formed by evolutional forces. Intelligence and knowledge manifest in the system's behavior. 'Intelligence' is identified as the necessary framework that realizes continuous adaptation through the ongoing development and incorporation of control procedures and building blocks. The content that fills this framework is the 'Enterprise Knowledge'. The rigid framework of business processes has to be replaced by a project framework, employees have to be integrated as 'Knowledge Workers' and IT systems have to offer advanced structural and organizational properties to facilitate declarative processing.
The Integration of Phonetic Knowledge in Speech Technology
Continued progress in Speech Technology in the face of ever-increasing demands on the performance levels of applications is a challenge to the whole speech and language science community. Robust recognition and understanding of spontaneous speech in varied environments, good comprehensibility and naturalness of expressive speech synthesis are goals that cannot be achieved without a change of paradigm. This book argues for interdisciplinary communication and cooperation in problem-solving in general, and discusses the interaction between speech and language engineering and phonetics in particular. With a number of reports on innovative speech technology research as well as more theoretical discussions, it addresses the practical, scientific and sometimes the philosophical problems that stand in the way of cross-disciplinary collaboration and illuminates some of the many possible ways forward.
The individual in international law
Explores how international law has accommodated human individuals, and how individual status, rights, and obligations have become denser and more important in the international legal system. The ‘humanisation’ of international law is analysed in different historical periods and from various theoretical perspectives.
The Impact of COVID-19 on the Syrian banks
Aims to study the impact of the new Coronavirus on Syrian banks. By analyzing banks’ disclosures about their data, some concepts about the Coronavirus pandemic and the historical sequence of the emergence of the virus were present. Then a theoretical study on the financial statements of banks to studying the impact of Coronavirus on local banks through the statistical programs and T-test and the correlation relationship that was cover within the applied aspect of the research. As the variables were compare for five Syrian banks before and after the announcement of infection inside Syria. To measure the results and the impact of Corona on financial performance, and the study concluded that there is an impact of the Coronavirus on Syrian banks despite the policies and procedure taken by the Monetary Council and the Central Bank of Syria to mitigate the impact of the virus.

The Hamilton-type principle in fluid dynamics : Fundamentals and applications to magnetohydrodynamics, thermodynamics, and astrophysics
Describes Fluid Dynamics, Magne to hydrodynamics, and Classical Thermodynamics as branches of Lagrange’s Analytical Mechanics; and in that sense, the approach presented in it is markedly different from the treatment given to them in traditional text books. In order to reach that goal, a Hamilton-Type Variational Principle, as the proper mathermatical technique for the theoretical description of the dy- mic state of any fluid is formulated. The scheme is completed proposing a new group of variations regarding the evolution parameter which is time; and with the demonstration of a theorem concerning the invariance of the action integral under continuous and infinitesimal temporary transfor- tions. With all that has been mentioned before and taking into account the methods of the calculus of variations and the adequate boundary conditions, a general methodology for the mathematical treatment of fluid flows characteristic of Fluid Dynamics, Magne to hydrodynamics, and also fluids at rest proper of Classical Thermodynamics is presented.
The Grammar of Graphics
Presents a unique foundation for producing almost every quantitative graphic found in scientific journals, newspapers, statistical packages, and data visualization systems. While the tangible results of this work have been several visualization software libraries, this book focuses on the deep structures involved in producing quantitative graphics from data. What are the rules that underlie the production of pie charts, bar charts, scatterplots, function plots, maps, mosaics, and radar charts? Those less interested in the theoretical and mathematical foundations can still get a sense of the richness and structure of the system by examining the numerous and often unique color graphics it can produce. The second edition is almost twice the size of the original, with six new chapters and substantial revision. Much of the added material makes this book suitable for survey courses in visualization and statistical graphics.
