Dense Molecular Gas around Protostars and in Galactic Nuclei : European Workshop on Astronomical Molecules 2004

The European Workshop on Astronomical Molecules was held at ‘The Conference Building’ in Zwolle, the Netherlands, on 18–20 February 2004. The idea behind the workshop was to bring together astronomers studying similar processes in different astrophysical environments; masers and dense molecular gas around young stars and galactic nuclei. There is considerable overlap in physical and chemical phenomena between these environments, with scales ranging from circumstellar to central regions of galaxies. This issue includes 12 reviews and 27 contributed papers presented in this Wo- shop, all of them were refereed by invited speakers or the editors. The quality of the papers is outstanding. The projects discussed here are often in an early stage and undoubtedly their progress has bene?ted greatly from the opportunity to discuss results with the experts in a wide range of areas. Similarly,

Deformation and Gravity Change : Indicators of Isostasy, Tectonics, Volcanism, and Climate Change

During the last decades, measurements of various geodynamic processes have gained ever increasing importance. Temporal variations of the deformation and gravity fields monitored by geodetic measuring techniques reflect isostatic, tectonic or volcanic processes in the earth’s interior.Recordings of hydrologic or oceanographic phenomena allow conclusions on surface processes. This volume reflects the major developments during recent years in these areas of research. Most of the papers in this book were presented at the workshop on"Deformation and Gravity Change: Indicators of Isostasy, Tectonics, Volcanism and Climate Change", which took place at the Casa de los Volcanes on Lanzarote,Spain, 2005.

Deep learning approach for text summarization

Machine learning and deep learning, as we know, have started ruling over almost every field in the computing industry and so, has revolutionized the process of text summarization too. Automatic text summarization is an advancing realm of the natural language processing research in which concise textual summaries are generated from lengthy input documents. Extensive research has been carried out on how automatic summarization can be prosecuted through various extractive and abstractive techniques. In this paper, we address all the approaches to text summarization and present the modus operandi of an Architecture called Encoder Decoder, under the machine learning approach.

Cyclotomic Fields and Zeta Values

Cyclotomic fields have always occupied a central place in number theory, and the so called "main conjecture" on cyclotomic fields is arguably the deepest and most beautiful theorem known about them. It is also the simplest example of a vast array of subsequent, unproven "main conjectures'' in modern arithmetic geometry involving the arithmetic behaviour of motives over p-adic Lie extensions of number fields. These main conjectures are concerned with what one might loosely call the exact formulae of number theory which conjecturally link the special values of zeta and L-functions to purely arithmetic expressions.

Cough : Pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment

This book provides an updated and comprehensive overview of cough, while opening new perspectives for their treatment and management. It enables readers to not only discover new physiologic features and mechanisms but also to gain an in-depth understanding of the diagnostic workup of cough, still one of the most frequent and challenging symptoms in daily medical practice. The book also provides insights into cough’s features and pathogenesis, as well as into pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments. The most frequent causes of chronic cough (asthma, postnasal drip, gastroesophageal reflux and chronic hypersensitivity syndrome) and different types of pediatric cough are also explored.

Content based social platform optimization “Fashion Platform"

The purpose of this project is to design a platform that concentrates on Fashion in addition to assisting users with gathering an informative feedback, as well as linking local stores to those users. This platform will be delivered as a mobile application that is available to any user who is interested in expressing and sharing his/her prevailing taste in fashion simply by posting photos, interacting with other people’s posts and leaving comments for them. The app will also provide some features in an attempt to push the users to be more enthusiastic and to be more encouraged about trying and continuously using this app. Moreover, this platform will incorporate a Shop section, which will be the actual local stores that are connected to it, so the user can buy an item that he/she is fond of.

MathematicsMechanization consistsoftheory,softwareandapplicationofc- puterized mathematical activities such as computing, reasoning and discovering. ItsuniquefeaturecanbesuccinctlydescribedasAAA(Algebraization,Algori- mization, Application). The name “Mathematics Mechanization” has its origin in the work of Hao Wang (1960s), one of the pioneers in using computers to do research in mathematics, particularly in automated theorem proving. Since the 1970s, this research direction has been actively pursued and extensively dev- oped by Prof. Wen-tsun Wu and his followers. It di?ers from the closely related disciplines like Computer Mathematics, Symbolic Computation and Automated Reasoning in that its goal is to make algorithmic studies and applications of mathematics the major trend of mathematics development in the information age.

Cognitive Development in Chimpanzees

From an evolutionary perspective, understanding chimpanzees offers a way of understanding the basis of human nature. This book on cognitive development in chimpanzees is the first of its kind to focus on infants reared by their own mothers within a natural setting, illustrating various aspects of chimpanzee cognition and the developmental changes that accompany them. The subjects of this book are chimpanzees of three generations inhabiting an enriched environment as well as a wild community in West Africa; and phenomena such as face recognition, concept formation, object manipulation, tool manufacture and use, decision making, learning, communication, self-awareness, intentionality, understanding others’ minds, cooperation, deception, altruism, and reciprocity observed within these groups are reported herein. Unique approaches both in the field and in the laboratory go hand in hand to illustrate the cognitive world of our closest living evolutionary relatives.

Coercive human rights: positive duties to mobilise the criminal law under the ECHR

Traditionally, human rights have protected those facing the sharp edge of the criminal justice system. But over time human rights law has become increasingly infused with duties to mobilise criminal law towards protection and redress for violation of rights. These developments give rise to a whole host of questions concerning the precise parameters of coercive human rights, the rationale(s) that underpin them, and their effects and implications for victims, perpetrators, domestic legal systems, and for the theory and practice of human rights and criminal justice. This collection addresses these questions with a focus on the rich jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).
