Gastroesophagal reflux disease (GERD)

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a common disease with a high prevalence worldwide and a great socioeconomic burden. GERD is a multifactorial disease in which anatomical and functional factors both play a pathogenetic role. The disease can manifest in various symptoms which can be grouped into typical, atypical and extra-esophageal symptoms. The pathophysiology of GERD is complex and not completely understood. An abnormal LES pressure and increased reflux during transient LES relaxations are believed to be key etiologic factors. Prolonged exposure of the esophagus to acid is another. Heartburn and acid regurgitation are the most common symptoms of GERD, although pathologic reflux can result in a wide variety of clinical presentations.

Gases and Toxins that Cause Pulmonary Edema

Pulmonary edema is a major health problem in the lung, it is a cardinal feature of congestive heart failure. Pulmonary edema defined as excessive extravascular water in the lungs, is a common and serious clinical problem. Pulmonary edema can be life-threatening, but effective therapy is available to rescue patients from the deleterious consequences of disturbed lung fluid balance, which usually can be identified and, in many instances, corrected. Garlic Extract : Interaction with mechanisms of bacterial resistance

Garlic (Allium sativum) is a medicinal plant which has a diverse biological activities including antioxidant activity, antimicrobial activity, anticancer activity and others… In this article we are focusing on its antimicrobial effect which had been tested individually and in combination with two resisted antibiotics (Ampicillin, Ciprofloxacin) on 3 gram negative bacteria (Proteus mirabilis, klebsiella pneumoniae and Enterobacter aerogenes) to estimate the effect of garlic extract on the activity of the resisted drugs and bacterial resistance mechanism.

الشباب بكافة الفئات العمرية، يجمع بين التعليم والترفيه وتأمين فرص العمل وفرص لإتمام الدراسة. تتمثل الفكرة المعمارية بتشكيل ساحة مركزية تفاعلية رئيسية تتقاطع معها الكتل الثلاث الأساسية والتي تمثل الفعاليات الثقافية الترفيهية والرياضية، حيث ينطلق من هذه الساحة المجمعة محورين أحدهما شمالي باتجاه صالات العرض الخارجية والآخر شمالي غربي باتجاه ساحة المطاعم والسينما الخارجية، مع مراعاة وصول السيارات إلى الموقع من كافة الاتجاهات حيث تم الدخول إلى الموقع من ثلاثة مداخل رئيسية للمشاة تجتمع في الساحة الرئيسية.

Future approaches for safe and effective pain management

Pain is defined as an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience that is associated with actual or potential tissue damage or described in terms of such damage. It is subjective and considered an important physiological mechanism by which humans prevent themselves from developing tissue injury. However, pain patients do not respond to treatment in the same way, which makes it challenging to issue a consistent treatment for all pain conditions. Excessive pain can markedly increase psychological health problems and decrease health‐related quality of life; therefore, pain should be managed appropriately by analgesics. Analgesics act in various ways on the peripheral and central pain pathways and are regarded as one of the most valuable but equally dangerous groups of medications. Individual variability in pain perception and differences in the efficacy of analgesic drugs are complex phenomena and are partly genetically predetermined. Pain severities as well as responses to analgesics, can also be very variable among sufferer.

Fungi as an Alternative Source of Anticancer and Antioxidant

Fungi are an " excellent but underexplored source " for new therapeutic compounds. The limited availability of bioactive principles in plant sources could be surpassed by exploiting the chemical entities in the endophytes fungi . fungi represent a rich source of bioactive metabolite that can manipulated to produce desirable novel analogs. In addition to the active substances that can be extracted from the fungi, so that they are useful in several mechanisms. Administrators oversee comprehensive system management, including user accounts, service categories, platform settings, and financial transactions. Freelancers can create detailed profiles showcasing their skills, experiences, and portfolios, and publish services with clear descriptions, pricing, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Users can post service requests, outlining project requirements and budgets, enabling freelancers to apply and engage in these projects.

يهدف مشروع تصميم مطعم الفصول الأربعة إلى تقديم تجربة حسية متكاملة تعكس أجواء الفصول المختلفة داخل فضاء داخلي مبتكر ينقسم المطعم إلى أربعة أقسام، يمثل كل منها فصلاً من فصول السنة حيث تم تصميم كل قسم بعناية ليحاكي عناصر الفصل من حيث الألوان، الإضاءة، الخامات، والأجواء العامة. يتميز المشروع بإمكانية تجربة العيش في أجواء فصل معين في غير موسمه مما يخلق تجربة فريدة للزوار يعتمد التصميم على دمج العناصر الطبيعية والتقنيات الحديثة لخلق بيئة غامرة توفر الراحة والاستمتاع البصري والحسي. يركز المشروع على الجانب الوظيفي والجمالي في آنٍ واحد. مع مراعاة معايير التصميم الداخلي الحديثة الابتكار في تقديم المساحات التفاعلية.

The fears regarding food safety started long time ago, and till this very moment of ours, the international organizations and INGOs pay lots of hard work to minimize and achieve reduction in the effects and the suffering caused to people around the world by contaminated foods each year. This research talks about the main patterns of food contaminants, and they are chemical, physical, biological, and last but not least the contamination caused by radioactive substances. It is also important to talk about the methods of precaution and protection against the diseases and illnesses produced by contaminated foods, as well about the role of INGOs which are dedicated and specialized in law and regulations enactment for bounding the incidence of food contamination in the world, for raising the public awareness towards food safety, and to keep up with the latest updates of events. Food lens is an innovative application designed to revolutionize dietary management by leveraging advanced image recognition and nutritional analysis. The primary objective of this senior project is to develop a user-friendly tool that identifies various foods through a camera interface and provides detailed nutritional information. This application not only enhances the user's understanding of their dietary intake but also assists in achieving personalized health and fitness goals. The core functionality of Food Lens involves the integration of a robust image recognition system capable of accurately identifying a wide range of foods. Upon identification, the application retrieves comprehensive nutritional data, including calorie content, macronutrient distribution (proteins, fats, carbohydrates), and essential micronutrients (vitamins and minerals). This data is then seamlessly integrated into the user's dietary profile. Food Lens is designed to track the user's daily caloric intake and compare it against personalized recommendations based on age, gender, weight, height, and activity level. By maintaining a dynamic record of consumed foods, the application provides real-time feedback on the user’s nutritional progress. This feature is particularly beneficial for individuals aiming to manage weight, address dietary restrictions, or improve overall health.

Food irradiation

Treatment of food by specific ionizing radiations to improve microbiological safety and storability is one of the most extensively studied technology of the XXth century. However, much of the research has been carried out in laboratories and it is still relatively underutilized commercially. Its application potential is very diverse, from inhibition of sprouting of tubers and bulbs to production of commercially sterile food products. The safety of consumption and wholesomeness of irradiated food have been extensively studied in international cooperations. Numerous international expert groups set up jointly by the FAO, the IAEA and the WHO, or the Scientific Committee on Food of the European Commission concluded that foods irradiated with appropriate technologies are both safe and nutritionally adequate. A Codex General Standard for Irradiated Foods and a Recommended International Code of Practice for Radiation Processing of Food have been developed.

The effect of nutrition on behavior is one of the new topics that nutritionists are discussing at the present time. They have proven that there is a clear relationship between food, behavior and decisions. The aim of this research is to shed light on this new aspect of nutriti onal science, as we are presenting in this project some of the experiments, researches and statistics that scientists have reached and referred to this effect.

Food addiction

This approach acknowledges the apparent parallels between substance use disorders and overeating of highly palatable, high-caloric foods. Although this idea seems to be relatively new, research on food addiction actually encompasses several decades, a fact that often remains unrecognized. Scientific use of the term addiction in reference to chocolate even dates back to the 19th century. In the 20th century, food addiction research underwent several paradigm shifts, which include changing foci on anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, obesity, or binge eating disorder. Thus, the purpose of this review is to describe the history and state of the art of food addiction research and to demonstrate its development and refinement of definitions and methodologies
