Digital Phase Lock Loops : Architectures and Applications
This exciting new book covers various types of digital phase lock loops. It presents a comprehensive coverage of a new class of digital phase lock loops called the time delay tanlock loop (TDTL). It also details a number of architectures that improve the performance of the TDTL through adaptive techniques that overcome the conflicting requirements of the locking rage and speed of acquisition. These requirements are of paramount importance in many applications including wireless communications, consumer electronics and others. Differential Undercounts in the U.S. Census : Who is Missed?
This book describes the differences in US census coverage, also referred to as “differential undercount”, by showing which groups have the highest net undercounts and which groups have the greatest undercount differentials, and discusses why such undercounts occur. In addition to focusing on measuring census coverage for several demographic characteristics, including age, gender, race, Hispanic origin status, and tenure, it also considers several of the main hard-to-count populations, such as immigrants, the homeless, the LBGT community, children in foster care, and the disabled. However, given the dearth of accurate undercount data for these groups, they are covered less comprehensively than those demographic groups for which there is reliable undercount data from the Census Bureau. This book is of interest to demographers, statisticians, survey methodologists, and all those interested in census coverage.
Differential Geometry and Analysis on CR Manifolds
The study of CR manifolds lies at the intersection of three main mathematical disciplines: partial differential equations, complex analysis in several complex variables, and differential geometry. While the PDE and complex analytic aspects have been intensely studied in the last fifty years, much effort has recently been made to understand the differential geometric side of the subject. This monograph provides a unified presentation of several differential geometric aspects in the theory of CR manifolds and tangential Cauchy–Riemann equations. It presents the major differential geometric acheivements in the theory of CR manifolds, such as the Tanaka–Webster connection, Fefferman's metric, pseudo-Einstein structures and the Lee conjecture, CR immersions, subelliptic harmonic maps as a local manifestation of pseudoharmonic maps from a CR manifold, Yang–Mills fields on CR manifolds, to name a few. It also aims at explaining how certain results from analysis are employed in CR geometry.Motivated by clear exposition, many examples, explicitly worked-out geometric results, and stimulating unproved statements and comments referring to the most recent aspects of the theory.

Diagnosis and Fault-Tolerant Control

Architectural and structural models are used to analyse the propagation of the fault throughout the process, to test the fault detectability and to find the redundancies in the process that can be used to ensure fault tolerance. Design methods for diagnostic systems and fault-tolerant controllers are presented for processes that are described by analytical models, by discrete-event models or that can be dealt with as quantised systems. Five case studies on pilot processes show the applicability of the presented methods. The theoretical results are illustrated by two running examples used throughout the book.
