Landscapes of a New Cultural Economy of Space
Aims to tie together various perspectives, insights and constructions pertaining to landscapes and landscape representations from different theoretical and methodological positions as well as from diverse geographical and historical contexts in order to elucidate and illustrate processes of cultural transformation inscribed in space.
Landscape theory in design
Introduces theoretical ideas to students without the use of jargon or an assumption of extensive knowledge in other fields, and in doing so, links these ideas to the processes of design. In five thematic chapters Susan Herrington explains: the theoretic groundings of the theory of philosophy, why it matters to design, an example of the theory in a work of landscape architecture from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, debates surrounding the theory and primary readings that can be read as companions to her text. Lagrangian Transport in Geophysical Jets and Waves : The Dynamical Systems Approach
This book provides an accessible introduction to a new set of methods for the analysis of Lagrangian motion in geophysical flows. These methods were originally developed in the abstract mathematical setting of dynamical systems theory, through a geometric approach to differential equations. Despite the recent developments in this field and the existence of a substantial body of work on geophysical fluid problems in the dynamical systems and geophysical literature, this is the first introductory text that presents these methods in the context of geophysical fluid flow. The book is organized into seven chapters; the first introduces the geophysical context and the mathematical models of geophysical fluid flow that are explored in subsequent chapters. The second and third cover the simplest case of steady flow, develop basic mathematical concepts and definitions, and touch on some important topics from the classical theory of Hamiltonian systems. The fundamental elements and methods of Lagrangian transport analysis in time-dependent flows that are the main subject of the book are described in the fourth, fifth, and sixth chapters. The seventh chapter gives a brief survey of some of the rapidly evolving research in geophysical fluid dynamics that makes use of this new approach. Related supplementary material, including a glossary and an introduction to numerical methods, is given in the appendices.

The need to clarify the current concepts of atopy, which for too long have oscillated between a primitive purely clinical vision and a subsequent purely immunological one, had been ripe for some time. Understanding that the role of immunoglobulins E is not exhaustive and accepting the Solomonic division between intrinsic and extrinsic atopy were the first two fundamental steps. Recent discoveries of the role of innate immunity, and therefore of antimicrobial peptides, have opened fundamental spaces for understanding in atopy and beyond. What now appears clear is that atopy is not the disease of an organ but rather a defect in the membranes that delimit our "self". The fact that these membranes are called skin, intestines, conjunctiva, bronchi or whatever has artificially fragmented the understanding and treatment of a unitary phenomenon. This book seeks to summarize the different experiences but above all to be a stimulus to ensure that medicine focuses constructively on the same target. If this is the case, we will no longer see "religious wars" between scientists and practicing doctors or, even worse, between the different specialists vying for the patient. If atopy, as we believe, is a global problem, it can only be adequately addressed in a multidisciplinary context and in a collaborative atmosphere, not only between doctor and doctor but also between doctor and patient.

Low back pain is one of the main reasons for consultation, whether in general or specialized medicine. It poses a real public health problem. This "back pain", which can despair patients and doctors by its sometimes rebellious character, explains the multiplicity of examinations sometimes practiced and the treatments implemented. This work is a collection of the most recent developments in terms of physiopathological knowledge of disc involvement, clinical examination and the place of surgery and in particular disc prostheses. An update concerns the indications and contributions of additional examinations; some formidable diagnostic traps are mentioned. Medical treatments such as infiltrations, manipulations, the benefit of restraints and the provision of acupuncture are being developed. Also discussed are the latest scientific data on isokinetic evaluation and retraining, as well as the role of sports activity as a factor in the prevention or aggravation of low back pain. With the spread of multidetector row CT (MDCT), virtual colonography (VC) is establishing itself as a new, proven alternative radiological method in the diagnosis of intestinal polyps and colorectal cancer. VC is already considered the first-line examination for identifying synchronous tumor lesions in patients with colorectal cancers that cannot be penetrated by endoscope, simultaneously providing accurate staging of malignant lesions. Its minimally invasive nature makes VC a valid alternative to pancolonoscopy, even in the detection of intestinal polyps, and provides the basis for interesting developments regarding future applications in screening programs. The text, aimed at radiologists who are approaching the method, radiology technicians and doctors involved in the diagnostic and therapeutic process of colorectal pathology, indicates the advantages of the normal method, the normal method with fourteen chondrii, the normal method with fourteen chondrii, the pathological method with fourteen chondrii indications.

Knowledge Representation Techniques : A Rough Set Approach
The basis for the material in this book centers around a long term research project with autonomous unmanned aerial vehicle systems. One of the main research topics in the project is knowledge representation and reasoning. The focus of the research has been on the development of tractable combinations of approximate and nonmonotonic reasoning systems. The techniques developed are based on intuitions from rough set theory. Efforts have been made to take theory into practice by instantiating research results in the context of traditional relational database or deductive database systems.
