Hexagonal image processing : A practical approach
Hexagonal Image Processing provides an introduction to the processing of hexagonally sampled images, includes a survey of the work done in the field, and presents a novel framework for hexagonal image processing (HIP) based on hierarchical aggregates. Digital image processing is currently dominated by the use of square sampling lattices, however, hexagonal sampling lattices can also be used to define digital images. The strengths offered by hexagonal lattices over square lattices are considerable: • higher packing density, • uniform connectivity of points (pixels) in the lattice, • better angular resolution by virtue of having more nearest neighbours, and • superlative representation of curves. The utility of the HIP framework is demonstrated by implementing several basic image processing techniques (for the spatial and frequency domain) and some applications. The HIP framework serves as a tool for comparing processing of images defined on a square vs hexagonal grid, to determine their relative merits and demerits. The theory and algorithms covered are supplemented by attention to practical details such as accommodating hardware that support only images sampled on a square lattice. Including a Foreword written by Professor Narendra Ahuja, an eminent researcher in the field of Image Processing and Computer Vision, the book’s fresh approach to the subject offers insight and workable know-how to both researchers and postgraduates.

Heart block
Cardiac muscle (also called heart muscle or myocardium) is one of three types of vertebrate muscle tissue, with the other two being skeletal muscle and smooth muscle. It is involuntary, striated muscle that constitutes the main tissue of the wall of the heart. The cardiac muscle (myocardium) forms a thick middle layer between the outer layer of the heart wall (the pericardium) and the inner layer (the endocardium), with blood supplied via the coronary circulation. It is composed of individual cardiac muscle cells joined together by intercalated discs, and encased by collagen fibers and other substances that form the extracellular matrix.

This volume presents the accepted papers for the 4th International Conference on Grid and Cooperative Computing (GCC2005),held in Beijing, China, during November 30 – December 3, 2005.The conferenceseries of GCC aims to provide an international forum for the presentation and discussion of research trends on the theory, method, and design of Grid and cooperative computing as well as their scienti?c, engineering and commercial applications. It has become a major annual event in this area. The First International Conference on Grid and Cooperative Computing (GCC2002) received 168 submissions. GCC 2003 received 550 submissions, from which 176 regular papers and 173 short papers were accepted. The acceptance rate of regular papers was 32%, and the total acceptance rate was 64%. GCC 2004 received 427 main-conference submissions and 154 workshop submissions. The main conference accepted 96 regular papers and 62 short papers. The - ceptance rate of the regular papers was 23%. The total acceptance rate of the main conference was 37%. For this conference, we received 576 submissions. Each was reviewed by two independent members of the International Program Committee. After carefully evaluating their originality and quality, we accepted 57 regular papers and 84 short papers. The acceptance rate of regular papers was 10%. The total acc- tance rate was 25%.

Despite the development of cancer treatments and the introduction of new treatments other than traditional treatments, the death rate is still high around the world for each type of cancer. Although conventional treatments are still common, as a first method in treatment, advanced new treatments have opened new horizon and have shown good efficacy in inhibiting cancer, either by treating them alone or in combination with conventional treatments, such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy. We mention in this research the latest methods of cancer treatment, such as targeted therapies in the treatment of solid cancers and leukemia. and will also mention the annual incidence rates of lines around the world. In cooperation with the head of the hematology division at the Mouwasat Hospital, Dr. Amin Suleiman, we studied cases of CML and MM patients being treated with modern therapies.

Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, the most common enzyme deficiency worldwide, causes a spectrum of disease including neonatal hyperbilirubinemia, acute hemolysis, and chronic hemolysis. Persons with this condition also may be asymptomatic. This X-linked inherited disorder most commonly affects persons of African, Asian, Mediterranean, or MiddleEastern descent. Because acute hemolysis is caused by exposure to an oxidative stressor in the form of an infection, oxidative drug, or fava beans, treatment is geared toward avoidance of these and other stressors.
