The Random-Cluster Model

The random-cluster model has emerged in recent years as a key tool in the mathematical study of ferromagnetism. It may be viewed as an extension of percolation to include Ising and Potts models, and its analysis is a mix of arguments from probability and geometry. This systematic study includes accounts of the subcritical and supercritical phases, together with clear statements of important open problems. There is an extensive treatment of the first-order (discontinuous) phase transition, as well as a chapter devoted to applications of the random-cluster method to other models of statistical physics.

The Private Sphere : An Emotional Territory And Its Agent

The non-interference perspective is common when theorizing about the protection of the private life of individuals and their families. However, this accepted way of looking at things, leads our thoughts astray. It fails to do justice to the interests both in being left in peace but at the same time participating in a community together with other people. New methods of communications interception, video and even satellite surveillance allow insight and an entry into personal matters, but they can also be used to satisfy people's need for protection, safety and security in public places. A theory about the respect for the individual's right to a private sphere and its protection ought therefore to incorporate both these interests.

The Neolithic Demographic Transition and its Consequences

The methodological innovation which has made possible the identification of the NDT is the use of a relative chronology, fixed to the local onset of the Neolithic. That is, events are considered not in terms of their absolute calendar dates, but rather in terms of their relation to the local date of the transition to agriculture. This volume presents and discusses the consequences and implications of the NDT on a global scale. Topics include: The causes of the NDT at its onset / Indicators of economic intensification as related to the NDT / Settlement and village practices associated with the pace of the NDT / The emergence of social practices associated with larger population concentrations / The effects of increased population density on human health.

The medical activity of salvadora persica

The human mouth is inhabited from birth by many types and numbers of microbes that are both beneficial and harmful to the health of the mouth and teeth. Either. Multiple factors in the oral environment contribute to the multiplication and diversity of microbes, including in particular the regularity of natural teeth. The cleanliness and maintenance of artificial dentures, the amount of integrity and vitality of gum tissue and ligaments around the age, as well as an important factor relates to food quality. In the mouth, saliva deposits protein-sugar compounds that form thin, transparent layers called pellicle. The surfaces of the teeth (enamels), which helps the oral microbes to adhere to these layers and thus multiply and accumulate in large quantities and in the form of thin organic layers known as microbial dental plaque on the surfaces of the teeth, above and below edge of the gum. It is scientifically proven that if the teeth are not cleaned well or regularly daily and if the accumulation of plaque continues.

The Long-Term Fertilization Trials in Halle (Saale) : A Tool for Sustainable and Environmentally Compatible Land Management - Contributions of Plant Nutrition Science in Halle 13

With the “eternal rye” experiment, laid out by Julius Kühn in 1878, the Institute of Agricultural and Nutritional Sciences of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg has the second oldest long-term fertilization trial of the world after Rothamstedt (UK). In addition, four more long-term fertilization experiments as well as one soil development trial exist in Halle, all founded by Karl Schmalfuß in 1948/49. Wolfgang Merbach and Annette Deubel summarize the most important results and draw conclusions for the continuation of these internationally important experiments.

The Impact of Management Expenses on Company’s Profitability

The purpose of this project to determine the impact of the general and administrative expenses on a firm’s profitability that include return on assets ratio and return on equity. The data analysis was carried out on data collected between 2015 and 2020 from a sample of 120 of the company in the stock market (banks, insurance, industrial sector companies, agriculture and service). All though general and administrative expenses do not have a statistically significant effect on the return on assets ratio of the firm, they do have an effect on the return on equity ratio of the firm whereas, the lower the general and administrative expenses, the higher the return on equity ratio.

The impact of leadership behavioral integrity and trust on the employees’ organizational trust : Empirical Evidence from the private health sector in Syria

Examines the effect of leader trust and leader behavioral integrity on the employee’s organization trust. Based on the assumption that there is a direct link between leader trust and leader behavioral integrity (Independent Variables), on organization trust (Dependent Variable), we have examined the relationship between these variables. The research methodology applies a deductive quantitative approach that collects quantifiable data by using survey instrument. Sampling strategy included interviewing employees across different hospitals which makes up 84.37% of the data, and from an online form that was shared on social media platforms making 15.62% of the data.

The Geography of Small Firm Innovation

It has long been recognized that advances in science contribute to economic growth. While it is one thing to argue that such a relationship exists, it is quite another to establish the extent to which knowledge spills over within and between sectors of the economy. Such a research agenda faces numerous challenges. Not only must one seek measures of inputs, but a measure of output is needed as well to estimate the knowledge production function. The identification of such a measure was a compelling goal for Zvi Griliches, if not the holy grail: “The dream of getting hold of an output indicator of inventive activity is one of the strong motivating forces for economic research in this area.” (Griliches 1990, p. 1669). Jaffe (1989) made a significant contribution to estimating the knowledge production function when he established a relationship between patent activity and R&D activity at the state level. Feldman and coauthors (1994a, 1994b) added considerably to this line of research, focusing on innovation counts as the dependent variable instead of patent counts. This work was particularly important given that many innovations are never patented. Feldman’s work also differentiated by firm size and showed that knowledge spillovers from universities play a key role as sources of knowledge for small firms.
