Hyperbolic Problems : Theory, Numerics, Applications ; Proceedings of the Eleventh International Conference on Hyperbolic Problems held in Ecole Normale Supérieure, Lyon, July 17-21, 2006
This volume contains papers that were presented at HYP2006, the eleventh international Conference on Hyperbolic Problems: Theory, Numerics and Applications held at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon, France, July 17-21, 2006. This biennial series of conferences has become one of the most important international events in Applied Mathematics. As computers became more and more powerful, the interplay between theory, modelling, and numerical algorithms gained considerable impact, and the scope of HYP conferences expanded accordingly. The field is currently in interaction with a variety of scientific domains, including fluid dynamics, physics, electromagnetism, chemistry, biology, road and network traffic, and engineering. Many of these papers present new effective numerical methods and their application in various contexts.
Hyperbolic Geometry
The geometry of the hyperbolic plane has been an active and fascinating field of mathematical inquiry for most of the past two centuries. The basic approach taken is to define hyperbolic lines and develop a natural group of transformations preserving hyperbolic lines, and then study hyperbolic geometry as those quantities invariant under this group of transformations. Topics covered include the upper half-plane model of the hyperbolic plane, Möbius transformations, the general Möbius group, and their subgroups preserving the upper half-plane, hyperbolic arc-length and distance as quantities invariant under these subgroups, the Poincaré disc model, convex subsets of the hyperbolic plane, hyperbolic area, the Gauss-Bonnet formula and its applications.
Hydropower Economics
HYDROPOWER ECONOMICS examines sustainable alternate energy sources beginning with modeling hydropower and extending the model to include thermal power and wind power. The book will use various econometric measures, equilibrium metrics, OR methods, and DEA/productivity analyses to analyze and model the optimal use of these alternate energy sources. Because these problems are dynamic in nature, dynamic methods are used to model the problems. The book derives results on the allocation of the amounts of alternate sources of energy (water, thermal, and wind) required to produce electricity at acceptable levels over time. Graphic illustrations of the analytical and mathematical modeling used to reach research conclusions are used throughout the book.
Hydrological modelling and the water cycle : Coupling the atmospheric and hydrological models
This collected work reports on the state of the art of hydrological model simulation, as well as the methods for satellite-based rainfall estimation. Mainly addressed to scientists and researchers, the contributions have the structure of a standard paper appearing in most cited hydrological, atmospheric and climate journals. Several already-known hydrological models and a few novel ones are presented, as well as the satellite-based precipitation techniques. As the field of hydrologic modeling is experiencing rapid development and transition to application of distributed models, many challenges including overcoming the requirements of compatible observations of inputs and outputs are addressed.

Hydrodynamics of Explosion : Experiments and Models
Hydronamics of Explosion presents the research results for the problems of underwater explosions and contains a detailed analysis of the structure and the parameters of the wave fields generated by explosions of cord and spiral charges, a description of the formation mechanisms for a wide range of cumulative flows at underwater explosions near the free surface, and the relevant mathematical models. Shock-wave transformation in bubbly liquids, shock-wave amplification due to collision and focusing, and the formation of bubble detonation waves in reactive bubbly liquids are studied in detail. Particular emphasis is placed on the investigation of wave processes in cavitating liquids, which incorporates the concepts of the strength of real liquids containing natural microinhomogeneities, the relaxation of tensile stress, and the cavitation fracture of a liquid as the inversion of its two-phase state under impulsive (explosive) loading. The problems are classed among essentially nonlinear processes that occur under shock loading of liquids and may be of interest to researchers in physical acoustics, mechanics of multiphase media, shock-wave processes in condensed media, explosive hydroacoustics, and cumulation.

Examples are oil whip (stability of rotating shafts), foil bearings in connection with magnetic tape storages, squeeze film between rigid surfaces and visco-elastic surfaces, theoretical and experimental analyses of temperature rise in bearings, those of turbulent lubricating film using the k-epsilon model.
Hydra = هايدرا
Forgery involves the use of advanced algorithms to replicate and distribute deceptive products across various categories, casting shadows of doubt on the authenticity of goods. Although counterfeit detection can be useful in identifying and mitigating fraudulent activities, the widespread presence of counterfeit goods poses significant dangers, undermining consumer confidence and brand reputation. To underscore the severity of this issue, consider instances such as fake luxury items flooding the market, counterfeit electronics compromising safety, or bogus pharmaceuticals endangering health. Addressing this issue is critical in maintaining the integrity of brands, safeguarding consumer well-being, and preserving trust in the marketplace. The ability to distinguish between authentic and counterfeit products is paramount in ensuring accurate decision-making and preventing the harmful consequences of fraudulent goods. This technological context underscores the urgency of developing and deploying cutting-edge solutions to combat the evolving landscape of product forgery. Hydra emerges as a robust solution, utilizing a comprehensive approach that includes extracting posts and images from search engine tools, and is integrated with AI models to detect forgery. The Hydra platform not only provides users with a powerful tool for detecting counterfeit products but also offers tangible benefits such as enhanced brand security, increased awareness about the prevalence of forgeries, and the opportunity to actively participate in a real-time community.

Hybrid Intelligent Systems : Analysis and Design
The objective of this edited volume is to offer a general view at the recent conceptual developments of Soft Computing (SC) regarded as a general methodology supporting the design of hybrid systems along with their diversified applications to modeling, simulation and control of non-linear dynamical systems. As of now, SC methodologies embrace neural networks, fuzzy logic, genetic algorithms and chaos theory. Each of these methodologies exhibits well delineated advantages and disadvantages. Interestingly, they have been found useful in solving a broad range of problems. However, many real-world complex problems require a prudent, carefully orchestrated integration of several of these methodologies to fully achieve the required efficiency, accuracy, and interpretability of the solutions. In this edited volume, an overview of SC methodologies, and their applications to modeling, simulation and control, will be given in an introductory paper by the Editors. Then, detailed methods for integrating the different SC methodologies in solving real-world problems will be given in the papers by the other authors in the book. The edited volume will cover a wide spectrum of applications including areas such as: robotic dynamic systems, non-linear plants, manufacturing systems, and time series prediction.
