Sequence Analysis and Modern C++ : The Creation of the SeqAn3 Bioinformatics Library

Every developer who previously worked with C++ will enjoy the in-depth chapter on important changes in the language from C++11 up to and including C++20. In contrast to many resources on Modern C++ that present new features only in small isolated examples, this book represents a more holistic approach: readers will understand the relevance of new features and how they interact in the context of a large software project and not just within a "toy example". Previous experience in creating software with C++ is highly recommended to fully appreciate these aspects. SeqAn3 is a new, re-designed software library. The conception and implementation process is detailed in this book, including a critical reflection on the previous versions of the library. This is particularly helpful to readers who are about to create a large software project themselves, or who are planning a major overhaul of an existing library or framework. While the focus of the book is clearly on software development and design, it also touches on various organisational and administrative aspects like licensing, dependency management and quality control.

Rigorous Development of Complex Fault-Tolerant Systems

This volume is an outcome of the REFT 2005 Workshop on Rigorous Engineering of Fault-Tolerant Systems held in conjunction with the Formal Methods 2005 conference at Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, in July 2005. The authors of the best workshop papers were asked to enhance and expand their work and a number of well-established researchers working in the area contributed invited chapters. From the 19 refereed and revised papers presented, 12 are versions reworked from the workshop; 9 of them are totally new. The book is rounded off by two provocatively different position on the role of programming languages.

Reconfigurable Computing : Architectures, Tools and Applications ; 4th International Workshop, ARC 2008, London, UK, March 26-28, 2008. Proceedings

The idea of reconfigurable hardware systems has represented the Holy Grail for computer system designers. It has been recognized for a long time that the microprocessor provides high fiexibility but at a very low performance merit in terms of MIPS/W or other such measures. Reconfigurable systems are thus attractive as they can be configured to provide the best match for the computational requirements at that specific time, giving much better area – speed – power performance. However, the practicalities of achieving such a reconfigurable system are - merous andrequire the development of: suitable reconfigurable hardware to s- portthe dynamic behavior; programming tools to allowthe dynamic behavior of the reconfigurability to be modelled; programming languages to support recfiguration
