Computer Vision - ECCV 2002 ; 7th European Conference on Computer Vision, Copenhagen, Denmark, May 28-31, 2002. Proceedings. Part II
The privilege of organizing it was shared by three universities: The IT University of Copenhagen, the University of Copenhagen, and Lund University, with the conference venue in Copenhagen. This year’s conference attracted more papers than ever before, with around 600 submissions. Still, together with the conference board, we decided to keep the tradition of holding ECCV as a single track conference. Each paper was anonymously refereed by three different reviewers. For the ?nal selection, for the ?rst time for ECCV, a system with area chairs was used.

ACCV has been making its rounds through the Asian landscape and came to India this year. Interest in computer vision is increasing and ACCV 2006 attracted about 500 submission. The evaluation team consisted of 27 experts serving as Area Chairs and about 270 reviewers in all. The whole process was conducted electronically in a double-blind manner,a ?rstfor ACCV.

Cognitive Vision Systems : Sampling the Spectrum of Approaches
This volume is a post-event proceedings volume and contains selected papers based on the presentations given, and the lively discussions that ensued, during a seminar held in Dagstuhl Castle, Germany, in October 2003. Biometric authentication refers to identifying an individual based on his or her distinguishing physiological and/or behavioral characteristics. It associates an individual with a previously determined identity based on that individual s appearance or behavior. Because many physiological or behavioral characteristics (biometric indicators) are distinctive to each person, biometric identifiers are inherently more reliable and more capable than knowledge-based (e.g., password) and token-based (e.g., a key) techniques in differentiating between an authorized person and a fraudulent impostor. For this reason, more and more organizations are looking to automated identity authentication systems to improve customer satisfaction, security, and operating efficiency as well as to save critical resources.
Bigel : An innovative drug delivery system
Bigel is a promising drug delivery system that modifies the pharmacotherapeutic characteristics of knowing active pharmaceutical ingredient (API).It is a mix between hydrogel and organogel (oleogel). The objective of the present work demonstrates the ability of bigel to overcome the disadvan- tages of both types of gels, including the limited ability to cross lipophilic barriers of the skin for hydrogels and the low patient compliance for organogels due to their stickiness and oily residues. Materials andmethods : Carbomer934, PolyvinylpyrrolidoneK 90 and Castor oil where mixed in a high shear mixer using diferent weight percentages of each. Hence,13 for mulations (BG1 to BG13) prepared by simplex mixture design modelis used to study the inuenceofafore- mentioned ingredients on appearance, dynamicviscosity, pH, stability, microscopicstructure of bigel and to understand the chemical interactions between bigel components, Fouriertrans- form infrared (FTIR) analysis will bereported.

The embodied nature of sensory-motor intelligence requires a continuous and focused interplay between the control of motor activities and the interpretation of feedback from perceptual modalities. Decision making about the selection of information from the incoming sensory stream – in tune with contextual processing on a current task and an agent’s global objectives – becomes a further challenging issue in attentional control. Attention must operate at interfaces between bottom-up driven world int- pretation and top-down driven information selection, thus acting at the core of arti?cial cognitive systems. These insights have already induced changes in AI-related disciplines, such as the design of behavior-based robot control and the computational modeling of animats. Today, the development of enabling technologiessuch as autonomous robotic systems,miniaturizedmobile–evenwearable–sensors,andambientintelligence systems involves the real-time analysis of enormous quantities of data. These data have to be processed in an intelligent way to provide “on time delivery” of the required relevant information. Knowledge has to be applied about what needs to be attended to, and when, and what to do in a meaningful sequence, in correspondence with visual feedback.
