Statistical Design

Although statistical design is one of the oldest branches of statistics, its importance is ever increasing, especially in the face of the data flood that often faces statisticians. It is important to recognize the appropriate design, and to understand how to effectively implement it, being aware that the default settings from a computer package can easily provide an incorrect analysis. The goal of this book is to describe the principles that drive good design, paying attention to both the theoretical background and the problems arising from real experimental situations. Designs are motivated through actual experiments, ranging from the timeless agricultural randomized complete block, to microarray experiments, which naturally lead to split plot designs and balanced incomplete blocks.

Spectral Method in Multiaxial Random Fatigue

The formula proposed in this book enables to determine power spectral density of the equivalent history directly from the components of the power spectral density matrix of the multidimensional stochastic process. It presents the assumptions and the procedure of determination of basic relationships of the spectral method. The authors work out equations determining the fatigue life according to the spectral method using various linear hypotheses of fatigue damage accumulation. The algorithm of fatigue life contains five blocks: 1 – determination of loading, 2 – determination of the critical plane position for the assumed multiaxial fatigue failure criterion, 3 – determination of power spectral density of the equivalent stress or strain, 4 – determination of statistical parameters of the equivalent parameter responsible for fatigue damage, and 5 – fatigue life calculation according to a suitable hypothesis of damage accumulation.

Smart medical laboratory

"One of the most popular terms associated with advanced technological development in any field today, is the word ‘smart’. With the great development that has affected neuronal networks and artificial intelligence in recent years and the revolution in computer vision and detection technologies. And advances in modern technologies such as laptop and mobile with most people and its widespread availability and the Internet has become almost everywhere. It became necessary to modernize the medical laboratories and integrate medicine with technology. Therefore, we proposed this project to start developing disease diagnosis techniques through magnetic resonance imaging, cancerous block detection and CBC blood analysis through computer vision algorithms and artificial intelligence techniques, and this leads to reduced human intervention in these tasks and reduces errors that can occur when diagnosing.

The intent of the workshop is to provide a stimulating atmosphere where researchersin cryptology can present and discuss new work on selected areas of current interest.

Security in communication networks ; 4th International Conference, SCN 2004, Amalfi, Italy, September 8-10, 2004, Revised Selected Papers

The main topics included all technical aspects of data security, including : anonymity, authentication, block ciphers, complexity-based cryptography, cryptanalysis, digital signatures, distributed cryptography, hash functions, identifition, implementations, key distribution, privacy, public key encryption, threshold cryptography, and zero knowledge. The Program Committee, consisting of 21 members, considered 79 papers and selected 26 for presentation; one of them was withdrawn by the authors. These papers were selected on the basis of originality, quality and relevance to cryptography and security in communication networks. Due to the high number of submissions, paper selection was a di?cult and challenging task, and many good submissions had to be rejected. Each subm- sion was refereed by at least three reviewers and some had four reports or more.

Secure and Smart Internet of Things (IoT) Using Blockchain and AI

Up to 28 billion devices will be connected to the Internet with only one third of them being computers, smartphones and tablets. The remaining two thirds will be other "devices"--Sensors, terminals, household appliances, thermostats, televisions, automobiles, production machinery, urban infrastructure and many other "things"--which traditionally have not been Internet enabled. This "Internet of Things" (IoT) represents a remarkable transformation of the way in which our world will soon interact.
