Jets from Young Stars : Models and Constraints
This volume contains the edited lecture notes of the First JETSET School on Jets from Young Stars: Models and Constraints, held by the Marie Curie Research and Training Network on JET Simulations, Experiments and Theory. At this school the lecturers gave an introduction to observational properties and basic models describing the launching and collimation mechanisms of jets.

Iterative Learning Control : Robustness and Monotonic Convergence for Interval Systems
This monograph studies the design of robust, monotonically-convergent iterative learning controllers for discrete-time systems. Two key problems with the fundamentals of iterative learning control (ILC) design as treated by existing work are: first, many ILC design strategies assume nominal knowledge of the system to be controlled and; second, it is well-known that many ILC algorithms do not produce monotonic convergence, though in applications monotonic convergence is often essential. Iterative Learning Control takes account of the recently-developed comprehensive approach to robust ILC analysis and design established to handle the situation where the plant model is uncertain. Considering ILC in the iteration domain, it presents a unified analysis and design framework that enables designers to consider both robustness and monotonic convergence for typical uncertainty models, including parametric interval uncertainties, iteration-domain frequency uncertainty, and iteration-domain stochastic uncertainty.

Complex Inorganic Solids : Structural, Stability, and Magnetic Properties of Alloys
One the key aspects of this volume is to cut across the traditional taxonomy of disciplines in the study of alloys. Hence there has been a deliberate attempt to integrate the different approaches taken towards alloys as a class of materials in different fields, ranging from geology to metallurgical engineering. The emphasis of this book is to highlight commonalities between different fields with respect to how alloys are studied. The topics in this book fall into several themes, which suggest a number of different classification schemes. We have chosen a scheme that classifies the papers in the volume into the categories Microstructural Considerations, Ordering, Kinetics and Diffusion, Magnetic Considerations and Elastic Considerations. The book has juxtaposed apparently disparate approaches to similar physical processes, in the hope of revealing a more dynamic character of the processes under consideration. Compiling ESTEREL
Esterel is based on the simple idea of providing a software language that has a synchronous model of time. That is, the execution of the program is divided into discrete instants, and statements are either guaranteed to execute in a single instant, or take multiple instants as requested by the programmer. Suitable for programming safety-critical real-time systems, Esterel and its model of computation have found use in industrial applications such as avionics, integrated circuit design, and other safety-critical environments. While Compiling Esterel does not assume prior knowledge of the Esterel language, readers will appreciate having prior knowledge of programming language semantics and compiler technology, along with some familiarity with synchronous digital hardware design.

It is fairly easy for a Finnish Jurist to understand German Company law. On the other hand, UK Company law seems very confusing. What is even more confusing is that the UK corporate govemance model is often regarded as one of the best in the World. Clearly German law cannot be as bad as it is often said to be. This books results from these kinds of thoughts and an interest in comparative law, Company law and securities markets law. I wanted to find out whether the functional method would give anything new to say about the regulation of corpo rate govemance in Germany and the UK. As I have been lecturing on Company law and corporate govemance myself, I also wanted to write a book that I could use as a textbook in my courses. For this reason, I focused on one of the key questions in corporate govemance: the regula tion of shareholder activism.
