Basic engineering principles are used to derive the controller structure in an intuitive manner, so that designs are easy to comprehend, modify, and extend.
Digital Communications Using Chaos and Nonlinear Dynamics
This book introduces readers to a new and exciting cross-disciplinary field of digital communications with chaos. This field was born around 15 years ago, when it was first demonstrated that nonlinear systems which produce complex non-periodic noise-like chaotic signals, can be synchronized and modulated to carry useful information. Thus, chaotic signals can be used instead of pseudo-random digital sequences for spread-spectrum and private communication applications. This deceptively simple idea spun hundreds of research papers, and many novel communication schemes based on chaotic signals have been proposed. However, only very recently researchers have begun to make a transition from academic studies toward practical implementation issues, and many "promising" schemes had to be discarded or re-formulated. This book describes the state of the art (both theoretical and experimental) of this novel field.
Digital cities III : Information technologies for social capital: Cross-cultural Perspectives ; 3rd international digital cities workshop, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, September 18-19, 2003, Revised Selected Papers
Digital cities constitutes a multidisciplinary field of research and development, where researchers, designers and developers of communityware interact and collaborate with social scientists studying the use and effects of these kinds of infrastructures and systems in their local application context. The field is rather young. After the diffusion of ICT in the world of organizations and companies, ICT entered everyday life. And this also influenced ICT research and development. The 1998 Workshop on Communityware and Social Interaction in Kyoto was an early meeting in which this emerging field was discussed.
Digital business strategies in blockchain ecosystems : Transformational design and future of global business
Analyzes the effects of the latest technological advances in blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) on business operations and strategies. Adopting an interdisciplinary approach, the contributions examine new developments that change the rules of traditional management. The chapters focus mainly on blockchain technologies and digital business in the "Industry 4.0" context, covering such topics as accounting, digitalization and use of AI in business operations and cybercrime.
Digital astrophotography : The state of the Art
This book is the successor to David Ratledge’s much-acclaimed The Art and Science of CCD Astronomy.CCD cameras and their associated technologies have continued to make great strides since the original book was first published almost eight years ago, particularly in the universal availability of color cameras and in the dramatically lower cost of equipment.Digital Astrophotography: The State of the Art provides examples of the latest and best images, and describes how to get the best out of this extraordinary technology.
Digital Anatomy : Applications of Virtual, Mixed and Augmented Reality
This book offers readers fresh insights on applying Extended Reality to Digital Anatomy, a novel emerging discipline. Indeed, the way professors teach anatomy in classrooms is changing rapidly as novel technology-based approaches become ever more accessible. Recent studies show that Virtual (VR), Augmented (AR), and Mixed-Reality (MR) can improve both retention and learning outcomes.
Digital analytics for marketing
Provides students with a comprehensive overview of the tools needed to measure digital activity and implement best practices when using data to inform marketing strategy. It is the first text of its kind to introduce students to analytics platforms from a practical marketing perspective. Also demonstrates how to integrate large amounts of data from web, digital, social, and search platforms, this helpful guide offers actionable insights into data analysis, explaining how to "connect the dots" and "humanize" information to make effective marketing decisions. It overs timely topics, such as social media, web analytics, marketing analytics challenges, and dashboards, helping students to make sense of business measurement challenges, extract insights, and take effective actions. The book’s experiential approach, combined with chapter objectives, summaries, and review questions, will engage readers, deepening their learning by helping them to think outside the box.
Diasporic Hallyu : The Korean Wave in Korean Canadian Youth Culture
This book examines the lived experiences of diasporic Korean youth in light of the transnational flows of South Korean popular culture, known as the Korean Wave, or Hallyu. Drawing on an ethnographic study of Korean Canadian youth and their engagement with the Korean Wave, the book proposes a critical understanding of the interactions between diasporic youth audiences and popular culture.
DevOps for Digital Leaders : Reignite Business with a Modern DevOps-Enabled Software Factory
In DevOps for Digital Leaders, deep collective experience on both sides of the dev–ops divide informs the global thought leadership and penetrating insights of the authors, all three of whom are cross-portfolio DevOps leaders at CA Technologies. Aruna Ravichandran, Kieran Taylor, and Peter Waterhouse analyze the organizational benefits, costs, freedoms, and constraints of DevOps. They chart the coordinated strategy of organizational change, metrics, lean thinking, and investment that an enterprise must undertake to realize the full potential of DevOps and reach the sweet spot where accelerating code deployments drive increasing customer satisfaction, revenue, and profitability.
Development in Turbulent Times: The Many Faces of Inequality Within Europe
This open access book explores the most recent trends in the EU in terms of development, progress, and performance. This book reflect upon the developmental challenges of the moment, such as sustainable development, reducing inequality, ensuring social cohesion, and driving the digital revolution. They particularly focus on the relation between the less-developed Eastern part of the EU and its more developed Western counterpart, and discuss the consequences of this development gap in detail. Lastly, the book presents a range of case studies from different areas of governance, such as economy and commerce, health services, education, migration and public opinion in order to investigate the trends most likely to impact the European Union's medium and long-term development.
Developing secure auto-scaling military postponement e-service in Syria
This study is about developing a secure, autoscaling military postponement e-service in Syria, that allows Syrian citizens to conveniently access services provided by the Syrian Recruitment Department conveniently through their smartphones. Currently, many Syrian citizens need to use the services offered by the Recruitment Department, resulting in overcrowding in a single location for similar purposes. This situation places a significant burden on both citizens and the government. The mobile application will facilitate various services such as enlistment and postponing military service by employing a well-designed software architecture that ensures scalability and efficient distribution of these services.
Designing with video : Focusing the user-centred design process
Digital video for user-centred co-design is an emerging field of design, gaining increasing interest in both industry and academia. It merges the traditions of design ethnography, participatory design, interaction analysis, scenario-based design, and usability studies into an integrated approach, which values the designer’s capacity to study and change the world creatively. Designing with Video: Focusing the User-centred Design Process covers the whole user-centred design project. The book illustrates in detail how digital video can be utilised throughout a design process, from the early user studies, through making sense of the video content and envisioning the future with video scenarios, to provoking change with video artefacts.
