Sindrome Coronarica Acuta, un nuovo modo di fare diagnosi, un nuovo modo di impostare la terapia = Acute Coronary Syndrome : Anew way of diagnosing and setting therapy
Aims to provide the reader with a concise yet comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the issue of acute coronary syndrome, in light of the enormous body of literature published on the subject over the past decade. Introduction to the concepts of electrocardiography and histophysiopathology, the nosological reclassification of acute coronary disease resulting from the introduction of new myocardial necrosis markers into clinical practice is addressed. It also emphasizes the need for physicians to assess the intrinsic risk of the disease by calculating specific scores proposed by clinical studies. Based on these new concepts, the various therapeutic approaches that should be implemented are analyzed, including both purely pharmacological and more "aggressive" approaches in terms of effectiveness. Ample space is therefore given to the use of new antithrombotic treatments and the choice between pharmacological therapy and invasive approaches using coronary angiography and angioplasty. a crossroads that sometimes puts the doctor in difficulty, but which can imply, if the options are faced rationally, a radical change in the patient's destiny.

Sensitization of Cancer Cells for Chemo/immuno/Radio-therapy
Sensitization of Cancer Cells for Chemo/Immuno/Radio-therapy, edited by Benjamin Bonavida, reviews novel approaches developed to reverse tumor cell resistance to chemo/immuno/radio-therapy and the use of various sensitizing agents in combination with various cytotoxics. Such sensitizing agents target gene products that regulate resistance and therefore identify novel targets for drug development. This book also introduces several of the current approaches that have been developed by established investigators in the field that are aimed at overcoming resistance. This book is the first that compiles studies on tumor cell sensitization and is useful for students, scientists, clinicians and pharmaceutical companies.
Secondary Analysis of Electronic Health Records
This book trains the next generation of scientists representing different disciplines to leverage the data generated during routine patient care. It formulates a more complete lexicon of evidence-based recommendations and support shared, ethical decision making by doctors with their patients. Diagnostic and therapeutic technologies continue to evolve rapidly, and both individual practitioners and clinical teams face increasingly complex ethical decisions. Unfortunately, the current state of medical knowledge does not provide the guidance to make the majority of clinical decisions on the basis of evidence.

Scarcity Marketing : Impact of Limited-ed. Packaging on Purchase Intentions in The Syrian Market
The Syrian market have relied on the basic scarcity product tactics, but creativity and uniqueness have become more in need, hence that is what this paper aims at delivering by evaluating the effectiveness of limited-edition packaging as a scarcity product tactic. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of scarcity messages on the consumer’s purchase intention. Specifically, we explore the effect of LEP’s on the consumer’s purchase intention using limited time, limited quantity and FOMO as moderators. how they affect the purchase intention of consumers, and how the feeling of ‘Fear of Missing Out’ (FOMO) does influence this relationship. For this research, an online questionnaire has been conducted among 306 participants, focused within the context of food and beverages. The results show that there is positive impact of LEPs on consumer purchase intentions, in addition to the positive moderation effect that was founded, strengthening the relationship furthermore.

Rehabilitation and palliation of cancer patients : (Patient care)
To maintain quality of life is an important challenge not only for health aftercare service, but also in palliative and terminal situations. The invasiveness of some of the current therapies and the restricted life expectancy of many patients led to the change in therapeutic paradigms. Rehabilitation and palliation have become an essential part of modern comprehensive cancer care. There are many excellent text books in cancer management which provide therapeutic recommendations thereby influencing the disease. Quality of life is now the second parameter after survival used to evaluate the effectiveness of first line oncologial therapies and is still the first parameter of most therapies in the case of recurrence. It contains experiences of the author and specific instructions how to assess, treat and evaluate rehabilitative and palliative measures.

Qualità dei Dati : Concetti, Metodi e Tecniche = Data quality: Concepts, Methods and Techniques
Poor data quality can hinder or seriously damage the efficiency and effectiveness of organizations and businesses. The growing awareness of these repercussions has led to important public initiatives such as the promulgation of the "Data Quality Act" in the United States and the Directive 2003/98 of the European Parliament. The authors present a complete and systematic introduction to the wide range of problems related to data quality. The book starts with a detailed description of different dimensions of data quality, such as accuracy, completeness and consistency, and discusses its importance in relation to both different types of data, such as federated data, data present on the web and data with temporal dependencies, which to the different categories in which the data can be classified. The comprehensive description of techniques and methodologies from not only research in the area of data quality but also related areas, such as data mining, probability theory, statistical data analysis and machine learning, provides an excellent introduction to the state of the art. current art. The presentation is complemented by a short description and a critical comparison of practical tools and methodologies, which will help the reader to solve their quality problems.
Psychosocial Interventions for Chronic Pain : In Search of Evidence
This book fills a major gap in the practice literature for healthcare professionals engaged in providing psychosocial care for their patients suffering from chronic pain or illness. Ranjan Roy’s introductory chapters explain how effectiveness is measured in psychosocial practice, and these concepts are clearly applied in compelling case examples, including: Family and couple therapy for longstanding pain issues. / Psychodynamic psychotherapy in a case of abuse and chronic pain. / Interpersonal psychotherapy for identity issues following a hysterectomy. / Cognitive-behavioral therapy for "immobilizing" pain. / Grief therapy following catastrophic loss. / Multidisciplinary approaches to complex chronic pain.
Progress and Confusion : The State of Macroeconomic Policy
The chapters address whether we have entered a "new normal" of low growth, negative real rates, and deflationary pressures, with contributors taking opposing views; whether new financial regulation has stemmed systemic risk; the effectiveness of macro prudential tools; monetary policy, the choice of inflation targets, and the responsibilities of central banks; fiscal policy, stimulus, and debt stabilization; the volatility of capital flows; and the international monetary and financial system, including the role of international policy coordination.
Production Planning in Production Networks : Models for Medium and Short-term Planning
Production Planning in Production Networks addresses production planning problems in distributed manufacturing networks from strategic, tactical, organisational and operative perspectives. New methodologies for capacity negotiation, allocation and workload assignment in production networks are presented. Specifically, three main problems are focussed on: how to negotiate production capacity availability in the long-term; how to allocate production capacity in medium-term planning; and, how to assign workloads in the short-term. The proposed approaches are based on negotiation algorithms in multi-agent networks. These approaches are compared with classical centralised approaches using discrete event simulation methodologies. Benchmark analysis is provided to understand the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed approaches.

This information-packed volume is the ultimate guide for today’s vitreo-retinal surgeon. It is written by leading experts in the field. The book begins with an extensive review, analyzing the evolution of present-day detachment surgery over the past 70 years. Here, a changing pattern of treatment modalities comes into view, with four primary procedures in use at the beginning of the twenty-first century. Experts in the field of retinal and vitreous surgery then describe the following surgical techniques: cerclage with drainage, pneumatic retinopexy, primary vitrectomy, and minimal segmental buckling without drainage. The advantages and disadvantages of each technique are assessed in relation to case selection, single operation attachment, final attachment, complications, visual function, and cost effectiveness.
Preventing Crime : What Works for Children, Offenders, Victims and Places
Crime prevention should be rational and should be based on the best possible evidence. Decision-makers should weigh heavily any available evidence on what works best. How can a program that has produced no discernable evidence of effectiveness, as shown through numerous evaluations, be considered for implementation? Unfortunately, this happens all the time. Evidence-based crime prevention attempts to overcome this and other obstacles by ensuring that the best available evidence is considered in any decision to implement a program designed to prevent crime. This book is about evidence-based crime prevention.
