The Handbook of South American Archaeology has been created as a major reference work for archaeologists working in South America, professors and their upper-division undergraduate and graduate students in South American archaeology courses including areal courses (Central Andes, North Andes, tropical lowlands), archaeologists working elsewhere in the world who want to learn about South American prehistory in a single volume.

Teamwork for Innovation in Sub-Saharan Africa
Whereas most insights concerning the dynamics of work groups come from North American or Western European environments, Hannah Titilayo Seriki concentrates on teams operating within the complex societal context of sub-Saharan Africa. The author develops a multi-level theory of African teams’ innovative performance and regards the team as a sub-system of the organisation, which is subjected to societal influences. She compares the insights gained from case studies in Nigeria and in South Africa with findings from two Germanic European cases. The results of her study imply that managers can actively and consciously influence the way their organisations pass on societal forces to their sub-units. Distinct differences between European and African cases are found, especially in the areas of team leadership and motivation.
Teaching, Research and Academic Careers : An Analysis of the Interrelations and Impacts
Evaluates research quality, quality of teaching and the relationship between the two through sound statistical methods, and in a comparative perspective with other European countries. This essay, countering Italo Calvino's five American Lectures, examines how "simple things" in fact often demonstrate their importance in simplicity, slowness, heaviness, singularity, in invisibility itself.
