Machine learning for cyber security ; 3rd International Conference, ML4CS 2020, Guangzhou, China, October 8–10, 2020, Proceedings, Part III
Constitutes the proceedings of the Third International Conference on Machine Learning for Cyber Security, ML4CS 2020, held in Xi’an, China in October 2020. The 118 full papers and 40 short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 360 submissions. The papers offer a wide range of the following subjects: Machine learning, security, privacy-preserving, cyber security, Adversarial machine Learning, Malware detection and analysis, Data mining, and Artificial Intelligence.
Machine learning for biomedical application
Biomedicine is a multidisciplinary branch of medical science that consists of many scientific disciplines, e.g., biology, biotechnology, bioinformatics, and genetics; moreover, it covers various medical specialties. In recent years, this field of science has developed rapidly. This means that a large amount of data has been generated, due to (among other reasons) the processing, analysis, and recognition of a wide range of biomedical signals and images obtained through increasingly advanced medical imaging devices. The analysis of these data requires the use of advanced IT methods, which include those related to the use of artificial intelligence, and in particular machine learning. It is a summary of the Special Issue “Machine Learning for Biomedical Application”, briefly outlining selected applications of machine learning in the processing, analysis, and recognition of biomedical data, mostly regarding biosignals and medical images.
Machine Learning for Audio, Image and Video Analysis : Theory and Applications
The book is organized in four parts: The first focuses on technical aspects, basic mathematical notions and elementary machine learning techniques. The second provides an extensive survey of most relevant machine learning techniques for media processing, while the third part focuses on applications and shows how techniques are applied in actual problems. Today, artificial intelligence deals with large amounts of data and knowledge and finds new information using machine learning and data mining. Machine learning and data mining are irreplaceable subjects and tools for the theory of pattern recognition and in applications of pattern recognition such as bioinformatics and data retrieval. This was the fourth edition of MLDM in Pattern Recognition which is the main event of Technical Committee 17 of the International Association for Pattern Recognition; it started out as a workshop and continued as a conference in 2003. Today, there are many international meetings which are titled “machine learning” and “data mining”, whose topics are text mining, knowledge discovery, and applications. This meeting from the first focused on aspects of machine learning and data mining in pattern recognition problems. We planned to reorganize classical and well-established pattern recognition paradigms from the viewpoints of machine learning and data mining. Though it was a challenging program in the late 1990s, the idea has inspired new starting points in pattern recognition and effects in other areas such as cognitive computer vision.
Machine learning and big data : Concepts, algorithms, tools and applications

Light Scattering by Optically Soft Particles: Theory and Applications
Deals with a particular class of approximation methods in the context of light scattering by small particles. This class of approximations has been termed as eikonal or soft particle approximations. The eikonal approximation was studied extensively in the potential scattering and then adopted in optical scattering problems. In this context, the eikonal and other soft particle approximations pertain to scatterers whose relative refractive index compared to surrounding medium is close to unity. The study of these approximations is very important because soft particles occur abundantly in nature. For example, the particles that occur in ocean optics, biomedical optics, atmospheric optics and in many industrial applications can be classified as soft particles. This book was written in recognition of the long-standing and current interest in the field of scattering approximations for soft particles. It should prove to be a useful addition for researchers in the field of light scattering.
Leptin
The discovery of leptin little more than a decade ago, as a hormone produced in white adipose tissue with an important role in satiety and energy expenditure, was a seminal event in our understanding of adiposity. This initial advance in the new endocrinology of obesity was soon followed by the realization that leptin was not only produced in adipose tissue, but in many different tissues of the body, and that receptors were similarly distributed. Additionally, the early recognition of infertility that was associated with leptin deficiency prompted research that identified roles for the polypeptide in virtually every area of reproductive biology.
Lectures in Supercomputational Neurosciences : Dynamics in Complex Brain Networks
The present volume is an introduction, largely from the physicists' perspective, to the subject matter with in-depth contributions by system neuroscientists. A conceptual model for complex networks of neurons is introduced that incorporates many important features of the real brain, such as various types of neurons, various brain areas, inhibitory and excitatory coupling and the plasticity of the network. The computational implementation on supercomputers, which is introduced and discussed in detail in this book, will enable the readers to modify and adapt the algortihm for their own research.

Oral cosmetology has no official recognition, yet the effects of plant extracts on the condition of the skin and integuments are well known. After an introduction to the physiology of the skin, the dosage and the phenomena of skin deterioration, the author discusses different types of treatment depending on the extracts used while explaining their mode of action. This work was written by a doctor, Doctor Paul Goetz, teacher in clinical phytotherapy, and a pharmacist, Doctor Christian Busser, pharmaceutical and scientific advisor, doctor in ethnology and ethnopharmacologist.

The notable recent cognitive advances in the field of cytogenetics and molecular genetics have made it possible to identify chromosomal anomalies and gene mutations responsible for numerous male infertility, which were completely ignored until recently. The fact is not without relevance, if the principle is valid that the recognition of the causes of a disease is also the first and necessary approach towards its correct therapy. With this publication, the authors wanted to offer specialists working in the field of assisted reproduction an update on this complex subject, dealing with both genetic causes in male infertility and infertility in genetic diseases.
L’insuffisance rénale aiguë = Acute renal failure
The aim of this book is to make current data from the experimental and clinical literature accessible to readers. More than a thousand articles are published each year on the theme and the authors aim to synthesize this information. These data relate in particular to the identification of early markers of renal dysfunction without which screening, recognition of the main pathophysiological determinants and prevention remain uncertain. This book focuses attention on clinical situations characterized by the renal impact of the main dysfunctions of vital functions, the prognosis of which is worsened by the occurrence of this renal failure. The following will be treated in particular: the renal consequences of oxidative stress, the renal consequences of respiratory dysfunction, cardiac dysfunction, hepatic dysfunction, alterations in hemostasis, septic shock and hemorrhagic shock. Finally, the physiopathological data from experimental models are gradually finding their echo in the clinical field, opening up therapeutic avenues whose recent evaluations will be analyzed.
