Unconventional Programming Paradigms ; International Workshop UPP 2004, Le Mont Saint Michel, France, September 15-17, 2004, Revised Selected and Invited Papers
Nowadays, developers have to face the proliferation of hardware and software environments, the increasing demands of the users, the growing number of p- grams and the sharing of information, competences and services thanks to the generalization ofdatabasesandcommunication networks. Aprogramisnomore a monolithic entity conceived, produced and?nalized before being used. A p- gram is now seen as an open and adaptive frame, which, for example, can - namically incorporate services not foreseen by the initial designer. These new needs call for new control structures and program interactions. The book is devoted to all aspects of unconventional computation ranging from theoretical and experimental aspects to various applications. Typical topics are: natural computing including quantum, cellular, molecular, neural and evolutionary computing, chaos and dynamical system-based computing, and various proposals for computations that go beyond the Turing model.
Unconventional Computation ; Vol. 4135 ; 5th International Conference, UC 2006, York, UK, September 4-8, 2006, Proceedings
This book about The 5th International Conference on Unconventional Computation, UC 2006,organized under the auspices of the EATCS by the Centre for Discrete Mathe-matics and Theoretical Computer Science of the University of Auckland, and theDepartment of Computer Science of the University of York, was held in York,UK, September 4–8, 2006.
Uncertainty, Rationality, and Agency
This book is about Rational Agents, which can be humans, players in a game, software programs or institutions. Typically, such agents are uncertain about the state of affairs or the state of other agents, and under this partial information they have to decide on which action to take next. This book collects chapters that give formal accounts not only of Uncertainty, Rationality and Agency, but also of their interaction: what are rational criteria to accept certain beliefs, or to modify them; how can degrees of beliefs guide an agent in making decisions; why distinguish between practical and epistemic rationality when agents try to coordinate; what must be common beliefs between agents about each other's rationality in order to act rationally themselves; can an agent assign probabilities to planned actions; how to formalise assumptions about a rational speaker in a conversation obeying Gricean maxims.
Uncertainty Theory
Uncertainty theory is a branch of mathematics based on normality, monotonicity, self-duality, and countable subadditivity axioms. The goal of uncertainty theory is to study the behavior of uncertain phenomena such as fuzziness and randomness. The main topics include probability theory, credibility theory, and chance theory. For this new edition the entire text has been totally rewritten. More importantly, the chapters on chance theory and uncertainty theory are completely new. This book provides a self-contained, comprehensive and up-to-date presentation of uncertainty theory. The purpose is to equip the readers with an axiomatic approach to deal with uncertainty. Mathematicians, researchers, engineers, designers, and students in the field of mathematics, information science, operations research, industrial engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, and management science will find this work a stimulating and useful reference.
Uncertainty in Engineering : Introduction to Methods and Applications
Provides an introduction to uncertainty quantification in engineering. Starting with preliminaries on Bayesian statistics and Monte Carlo methods, followed by material on imprecise probabilities, it then focuses on reliability theory and simulation methods for complex systems. The final two chapters discuss various aspects of aerospace engineering, considering stochastic model updating from an imprecise Bayesian perspective, and uncertainty quantification for aerospace flight modelling.
Ultrathin magnetic structures IV : Applications of nanomagnetism
The ability to understand and control the unique properties of interfaces has created an entirely new field of magnetism which already has a profound impact in technology and is providing the basis for a revolution in electronics. The last decade has seen dramatic progress in the development of magnetic devices for information technology but also in the basic understanding of the physics of magnetic nanostructures. Volume III describes thin film magnetic properties and methods for characterising thin film structure topics that underpin the present 'spintronics' revolution in which devices are based on combined magnetic materials and semiconductors. The present volume (IV) deals with the fundamentals of spintronics: magnetoelectronic materials, spin injection and detection, micromagnetics and the development of magnetic random access memory based on GMR and tunnel junction devices. Together these books provide readers with a comprehensive account of an exciting and rapidly developing field. The treatment is designed to be accessible both to newcomers and to experts already working in this field who would like to get a better understanding of this very diversified area of research.

Specific technical developments and applications of ultrasound relevant to studies of the gastrointestinal tract, such as functional and 3D ultrasound, contrast agents and operative ultrasound, are also discussed.
Ultrasonic Nondestructive Evaluation Systems : Models and Measurements
Ultrasonic Nondestructive Evaluation Systems: Models and Measurements provides the latest information and techniques available for ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation (NDE) inspections. Using a systems level approach, this book employs aspects of Fourier analysis, linear system theory, and wave propagation and scattering theory to develop a comprehensive model of an entire ultrasonic measurement system. The book also describes in detail the measurements needed to obtain all the system model parameters. This integrated approach leads to a new model-based engineering technology for designing, using and optimizing ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation inspections.
Ultradian Rhythms from Molecules to Mind : A New Vision of Life
Timing exerted by oscillatory mechanisms are found throughout the biological world and their periods span a wide range from milliseconds, as in the action potential of n- rons and the myocytes, to the slow evolutionary changes that require thousands of generations. In this context, to understand the synchronization of a population of coupled oscillators is an important problem for the dynamics of physiology in living systems (Aon et al. , 2007a, b; Kuramoto, 1984; Strogatz, 2003; Winfree, 1967). Circadian rhythms, the most intensively studied, are devoted to measuring daily 24 h cycles. A variety of physiological processes in a wide range of eukaryotic organisms display circadian rhythmicity which is characterized by the following major properties (Anderson et al. , 1985; Edmunds, 1988): (i) stable, autonomous (self-sustaining) oscillations having a free-running period under constant envir- mental conditions of ca.
Ultimate aiu community = مجتمع الجامعة العربية الدولية المطلق
The inspiration for this project was the need to unify the university's disparate systems into a single, cohesive platform. By developing this system, we aimed to solve the fragmentation issue while leveraging the advancements in artificial intelligence to enhance the overall educational experience. The Ultimate AIU Community aims to streamline educational processes, foster community engagement, and provide a unified, intelligent solution for the modern era of education. This system consists of two main components: a mobile social media community application and an e-learning website. The mobile app allows students to share content, facilitated by an AI-driven toxicity detection model to ensure a respectful and safe environment. Additionally, the app serves as an information hub, displaying advertisements and updates from various campus entities such as instructors, student affairs, cafes, and bookshops.
