at Arab International University (AIU)

Background

The Training and Career Development Centre (TCDC) at Arab International University (AIU), was incorporated at the beginning of 2008, and was entrusted to preparing an internal training program for students of the Business Administration faculty, this program soon after expanded to include all the faculties in AIU.At the beginning of 2010, the centers’s mission extended to provide other faculty students- services such as qualifying them to enter the labor market with full potential, this was done by establishing strong bonds between AIU and the community workforce by focusing on:Empowering students and alumni for lifelong career success by providing comprehensive resources and fostering connections with employers.

Its structure often involves collaboration across various business and industry partners. 

This model of training center in the modern university functions AIUas a dynamic hub designed to equip students, faculties with the practical skills needed for professional success and lifelong learning. It moves beyond traditional academic models by offering a blend of hands-on experience, career development, and modern pedagogical approaches.

The vision is generally aspirational and focused on the long-term impact on the university community and beyond, so that it includes:

Mission

The mission statement outlines the core purpose of this center, as well as how the vision is achieved, the main key aspects of the mission include: 

Empowering students and alumni to become effective leaders of their career journeys through exploration, resources, and employer connections.

Providing comprehensive career services, including counseling, training, and professional development opportunities.

Assisting Students in relating their knowledge, interests, and skills to meaningful career options and easing their transition into the world of work.

Collaborating with faculties, staff, employers, and community partners to expand access to opportunities and integrate training into the broader curriculum. 

Objectives

The objectives of this center are specific, measurable goals that support the mission. These typically involve: 

Increasing access to and awareness of career opportunities through outreach, marketing, and workshops.

Enhancing student’s career readiness through coaching, counseling, instruction, and innovative programming that aligns with industry trends.

Expanding experiential learning opportunities, such as volunteering, internships, and job shadowing.

Cultivating and maintaining partnerships with employers to provide job search assistance and post-graduation employment opportunities.

Increasing student self-awareness through individual and group counseling and self-assessment tools.

Ensuring equitable outcomes by advocating for equity, diversity, and inclusion with all stakeholders.
