Novel mouse model for future autism research
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a set of neurodevelopmental disorders characterized by a deficit in social behaviors and nonverbal interactions such as reduced eye contact, facial expression, and body gestures in the first 3 years of life. It is not a single disorder, and it is broadly considered to be a multi-factorial disorder resulting from genetic and non-genetic risk factors and their interaction. Genetic studies of ASD have identified mutations that interfere with typical neurodevelopment in utero through childhood. These complexes of genes have been involved in synaptogenesis and axon motility. Recent developments in neuroimaging studies have provided many important insights into the pathological changes that occur in the brain of patients with ASD in vivo. Especially, the role of amygdala, a major component of the limbic system and the affective loop of the cortico-striatothalamo-cortical circuit, in cognition and ASD has been proved in numerous neuropathological and neuroimaging studies.

Mute people aiding application
Communication is an essential tool for human survival. It is a fundamental and effective method of sharing thoughts, needs, feelings, and opinions. However, a large portion of the world's population lacks the ability to communicate with others. Such as the ones suffering from hearing loss, speech disability, or even both. Those disabilities have a significant impact on their lives in terms of work and relationships. The majority of these people are sometimes unable to support themselves financially due to the lack of job opportunities. Given these difficulties, we have decided to develop an application to help them overcome the obstacles they may encounter in their daily lives. After consulting with two deaf and mute people we customized an application that works in two ways. One of which is to translate their sign language in real time by using mobile camera and recognizing hand motion. The other works by converting text-to-voice, and accurately expressing the user’s emotions with the help of the facial emotion recognition.

Micromechanics of Contact and Interphase Layers
Micromechanics provides a link between the structure and the properties at different scales of observation. This book deals with micromechanical analysis of interfaces and interface layers and presents several modelling tools, ranging from the rigorous method of asymptotic expansions to practical finite element simulations, suitable for this class of problems. Two application areas are discussed. Boundary layers associated with contact of rough bodies are modelled by applying a scale transition approach in which a macroscopic interface of zero thickness is seen at the micro-scale as a layer with some finite thickness. Secondly, evolution of laminated microstructures accompanying stress-induced martensitic transformations in shape memory alloys (SMA) is analyzed as an illustration of the case when the local interfacial phenomena – here the propagation of phase transformation fronts – govern the macroscopic behaviour of a heterogeneous material.
Metal Matrix Composites
Metal matrix composites (MMCs) have become real engineering materials. MMCs have gone from "niche" materials to several high performance applications in aerospace, electronic packaging, automotive, and recreational products. This text focuses on the synergistic relationships among processing, microstructure, and properties of metal matrix composites. Maxillofacial Imaging
Maxillofacial imaging has evolved dramatically over the past two decades with development of new cross-sectional imaging techniques. However, today’s advanced imaging techniques with CT and MRI have only been partially implemented for maxillofacial questions. This book bridges the gap between traditional maxillofacial imaging and advanced medical imaging. We have applied CT and MRI to a variety of maxillofacial cases and these are illustrated with high-quality images and multiple planes. A comprehensive chapter on imaging anatomy is also included.
