Electrochemical processes and corrosion in reinforced concrete
Some reinforced concrete structures prematurely corrode as they age, with significant financial implications, but it is not immediately clear why some are more durable than others. This book looks at the various mechanisms for corrosion and how what seemed to be a relatively simple matter has become more complex the further it is understood due to the properties of concrete, steel and the way reinforced concrete structures are constructed. The significance of electrochemical processes is identified with recent research using new technology discussed.

E-Learning Methodologies : Fundamentals, technologies and applications
Covers state of the art topics including user modeling for e-learning systems and cloud, IOT, and mobile-based frameworks. It also considers security challenges and ethical conduct using Blockchain technology. E-learning has become an important part of our educational life with the development of e-learning systems and platforms and the need for online and remote learning. ICT and computational intelligence techniques are being used to design more intelligent and adaptive systems. However, the art of designing good real-time e-learning systems is difficult as different aspects of learning need to be considered including challenges such as learning rates, involvement, knowledge, qualifications, as well as networking and security issues. The earlier concepts of standalone integrated virtual e-learning systems have been greatly enhanced with emerging technologies such as cloud computing, mobile computing, big data, Internet of Things (IoT), AI and machine learning, and AR/VT technologies.
e-Learning : Nuovi strumenti per insegnare, apprendere, comunicare online = New tools to teach, learn, communicate online
Offers an overview of the evolution of online training, focusing both on the possible transformations made by new technologies on teaching, and on the more purely technical aspect, through the analysis of online training systems. The aim is to bring teachers, students and anyone who intends to learn more about a topic that, in many ways, still remains unknown to most of those who work in the world of education, to e-learning. The aim is to provide the opportunity to get in touch with the countless opportunities that new technologies offer to transform, improve and make teaching and learning more accessible, with a look at the future prospects of a sector that presents itself in constant evolution.
Eldercare Technology for Clinical Practitioners
Eldercare Technology: A Handbook for Practitioners addresses technologies targeted at the assessment, early detection and the mitigation of common geriatric conditions including decline in functional abilities, gait, mobility, sleep disturbance, vision impairment, hearing loss, falls, and cognitive decline.
Elasto-plastic damage behaviour of concrete elements
Shows how the mechanical phenomena of familiar concrete structures can be expressed using mathematical models and provides a solid basic understanding of the nonlinear behaviour of concrete structures. It applies elasto-plastic theory to damage mechanics and the modelling of cracks in concrete. Sets out the reality of damage mechanics in concrete Connects standard theory with good design and construction practice

The Conference has emerged from the idea of bringing together EU and Korea to get to know each other better, especially in fields of science and technology.
eIoT : The Development of the Energy Internet of Things in Energy Infrastructure
This book explores the collision between the sustainable energy transition and the Internet of Things (IoT). In that regard, this book’s arrival is timely. Not only is the Internet of Things for energy applications, herein called the energy Internet of Things (eIoT), rapidly developing but also the transition towards sustainable energy to abate global climate is very much at the forefront of public discourse. It is within the context of these two dynamic thrusts, digitization and global climate change, that the energy industry sees itself undergoing significant change in how it is operated and managed. The goal of this book is to provide a single integrated picture of how eIoT can come to transform our energy infrastructure. This book links the energy management change drivers mentioned above to the need for a technical energy management solution. It, then, describes how eIoT meets many of the criteria required for such a technical solution.
EigenArchitecture : Applied virtuality
A path out of the technological and economical excesses in contemporary architecture:A book on research and education in architecture and information technology, conceived of as philosophical interplay between two species similar in kind. Neither of them is in the least disciplinal: both affect everything, both are arts of structuring. The one 2500 years old and dignified, the other just 50 years of age and impatient.

The 17 chapters of this book grew out of the tutorial lectures given by leading world-class experts at the NATO Advanced Research Workshop “Effects of Space Weather on Technology Infrastructure” - ESPRIT, which was held in Rhodes on March 25-29, 2004. All manuscripts were refereed and subsequently meticulously edited by the editor to ensure the highest quality for this monograph. I owe particular thanks to the lecturers of the ESPRIT Advanced Research Workshop for producing these excellent tutorial reviews, which convey the essential knowledge and the latest advances in our field. Due to the breadth, extensive literature citations and quality of the reviews we expect this publication to serve extremely well as a reference book. Multimedia material referring to individual chapters of the book is accessible on the accompanying CD. The aim of ESPRIT was to assess existing knowledge and identify future actions regarding monitoring, forecasting and mitigation of space weather induced malfunction and damage of vital technological systems operating in space and on the ground.
Effective IT Service Management : to ITIL and beyond!
IT service management (ITSM) is the group of processes and functions that oil the wheels of the IT machine. Without ITSM, every IT project and system would deteriorate over time until failure. ITIL is the recognized best-practice standard for ITSM, and has been around since the late 1980s, with ITIL version 3 published just recently. However, many of today’s IT problems have been around for just as long - so in order to manage IT effectively, organizations must go beyond the ITIL framework.
