The Fate of Persistent Organic Pollutants in the North Sea : Multiple Year Model Simulations of g-HCH, a-HCH and PCB 153
Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are harmful to human health and to the environment. Their fate in the marine environment is not yet fully understood. An ocean model (FANTOM) has been developed to investigate the fate of selected POPs in the North Sea. The main focus of the model is on quantifying the distribution of POPs and their aquatic pathways. This is the first time that a spatially-resolved, measurement-based ocean transport model has been used to study POP-like substances, at least on the regional scale. The model was applied for the southern North Sea and tested by studying the behaviour of g-HCH, a-HCH and PCB 153 in sea water. This model study proves that transport models, such as FANTOM, are capable of reproducing realistic multi-year temporal and spatial trends of selected POPs and can be used to address further scientific questions.

This book employs a science-based approach to identify and take action against POPs, and additionally, provides access to technical information on POPs. The book will be an overview of the existing POP monitoring activities and programs.
The EU and the Economies of the Eastern European Enlargement
The enlargement of the European Union towards the East from May 2004 has generated an increase of about 100 million inhabitants in the EU population, and has especially brought along major challenges and important opportunities both for the "new" countries and for the "old" member states. The Environmental Movement in Ireland
Collective responses to Ireland’s dramatic transformation from a primarily agrarian and rural society to an industrialised economy obsessed by rapid growth and development occurred in two phases: Phase One took place between the "No Nukes" protests of the late 1970’s when campaigns targeted multinational plants or infrastructural projects perceived as a pollution threat during years of economic stagnation. Phase Two occurred after economic buoyancy was achieved, as the demands of rapid growth threatened communities, the environment and Irish heritage in the face of major infrastructural projects such as roads, incinerators and gas pipelines.

The Effects of Guerrilla Marketing On Consumer behavior
The purpose of this research is to explore how the use of guerrilla marketing affects consumer behavior in terms of brand attitude, brand image and wordof-mouth. We conduct an experiment through survey to determine if guerilla marketing campaigns are perceived as being more credible and creative than traditional marketing campaigns Furthermore, these determinants are used as instruments to study the effect on brand attitude, brand image and word-of-mouth. The study is exploratory and the chosen method is a qualitative data collection and it was based on marketing and consumer behavior theories. The findings indicate that guerrilla marketing campaigns affect all consumer behavior elements, studied in our thesis, more than their equivalent traditional marketing campaigns.

The determinants of conventional Syrian banks profitability
Examines the impact of bank specific characteristics and macroeconomic variables on the profitability of Syrian banking industry by analysing balanced panel data from 2016 to 2019. A total of 11 Syrian conventional banks’ financial reports were analysed; The paper examines internal variables (bank-level indicators), which include financial leverage, liquidity, nonperforming loans and capital adequacy, as well as external variables, which include macroeconomic and industry-specific variables. The dependent variables used are return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE). A multi-regression model of panel data regression analysis is hired for the analysis. The results revealed that the profitability of banks is greatly affected by non-performing debt and the financial Leverage. The results are consistent with previous research conducted on the impact internal factors on the profitability of banks.

The Coronin Family of Proteins
The coronins, first described in Dictyostelium discoideum in 1991, have been detected in all eukaryotes except plants. They belong to the superfamily of WD40-repeat proteins and represent a large family of proteins, which are often involved in cytoskeletal functions. Phylogenetic studies clearly distinguish 12 subfamilies of which six exclusively occur in vertebrates. In the present book we have made a sincere attempt to provide a comprehensive overview on all aspects of coronin proteins including history, structure, subcellular localization and function in different organisms. In addition, we also included a general overview on the WD40 family of proteins and the structurally related Kelch family. The Coherence of Kants Transcendental Idealism
Presents a new defense of the coh- ence and plausibility of Kant’s transcendental idealism and its indisp- sability for his theory of knowledge. I will show that the main argument of the Transcendental Aesthetic and the Transcendental Analytic is - fensible independently of some of Kant’s claims which are said to threaten its coherence. I have undertaken an inquiry into the coherence of Kant’s transc- dental idealism for the following reasons. A defense of the coherence of transcendental idealism is required by the existing state of Kantian scholarship. The claim that Kant’s transcendental idealism is incoh- ent has appeared in various forms over the last two centuries.
