Reasoning Web ; Vol. 3564 : 1st International Summer School 2005, Msida, Malta, July 25-29, 2005, Revised Lectures
Contains the tutorial papers of the Summer School “Reasoning Web, ”July 25–29, 2005. The main idea of the Semantic Web is to enrich Web data with meta-data carrying a “meaning” of the data and allowing Web-based systems to reason about data (and meta-data). The meta-data used in Semantic Web applications is usually linked to a conceptualization of the application domain shared by di?erent applications. Such a conceptualization is called an ontology and species classes of objects and relations between them. Ontologies are defined by ontology languages, based on logic and supporting formal reasoning. Just as the current Web is inherently heterogeneous in data formats and data semantics, the Semantic Web will be inherently heterogeneous in its reasoning forms. - deed, any single form of reasoning turns out to be insu?cient in the Semantic Web.
Reasoning Web : 4th International Summer School 2008, Venice, Italy, September 7-11, 2008, Tutorial Lectures
This book is presented provide competent coverage of methods and major application areas such as social networks, semantic multimedia indexing and retrieval, bioinformatics, and semantic web services. They highlight which techniques are already being successfully applied for purposes such as improving the performance of information retrieval algorithms, enabling the interoperation of heterogeneous agents, modelling users profiles and social relations, and standardizing and improving the accuracy of very large and dynamic scientific databases.
Reanalysis of Structures : A Unified Approach for Linear, Nonlinear, Static and Dynamic Systems
This book deals with various computational procedures for multiple repeated analyses (reanalysis) of structures, and presents them in a unified approach. It meets the need for a general text covering the basic concepts and methods as well as recent developments in this area. The book discusses various analysis models, including linear and nonlinear analysis, static and dynamic analysis, and design sensitivity analysis. It demonstrates how various concepts and methods are integrated to achieve effective solution procedures. The approach presented has several advantages in terms of generality, efficiency of the calculations, accuracy of the results and ease of implementation. Efficiency and accuracy considerations are discussed and illustrated.
Real-Time Object Uniform Design Methodology with UML
The competitiveness of organizations facing globalization, information and communication technologies relies on strategic issues such as reuse of knowledge from past experiences to make higher quality decisions, deployment of innovative, fast methodological approaches for solving problems and building systems. Real-life systems are often multidisciplinary; their development commands a uniform way of object modeling in order to close the loop of various interactions crossing multiple domains.
Real-Time Management of Resource Allocation Systems : A Discrete Event Systems Approach
Proposes a control paradigm that offers a comprehensive and integrated solution to, both, the behavioral / logical and the performance-oriented control problems underlying the management of the resource allocation taking place highly automated technological applications.
Real-Time Applications with Stochastic Task Execution Times : Analysis and Optimisation
Real-Time Applications with Stochastic Task Execution Times presents three approaches to the analysis of the deadline miss ratio of applications with stochastic task execution times. Each of the three approaches fits best to a different context. The first approach is an exact one and is efficiently applicable to monoprocessor systems. The second approach is an approximate one, which allows for designer-controlled trade-off between analysis accuracy and analysis speed. It is efficiently applicable to multiprocessor systems. The third approach is less accurate but sufficiently fast in order to be placed inside optimisation loops. Based on the last approach, we propose a heuristic for task mapping and priority assignment for deadline miss ratio minimisation.
Realization Theory and Design of Digital Images
Thismonographisconcernedwithdescriptionanddesignfortwo-dimensional and three-dimensional images; it will be of special interest to researchers and graduate students who specialized in image processing and system theory. From the data in digital images, mathematical models will be constructed. Then new systems which describe faithfully any two-dimensional or thr- dimensional digital images will be proposed.

Rationale-Based Software Engineering
Many decisions are required throughout the software development process. These decisions, and to some extent the decision-making process itself, can best be documented as the rationale for the system, which will reveal not only what was done during development but the reasons behind the choices made and alternatives considered and rejected. This information becomes increasingly critical as software development becomes more distributed and encompasses the corporate knowledge both used and refined during the development process. The capture of rationale helps to ensure that decisions are well thought out and justified and the use of rationale can help avoid the mistakes of the past during both the development of the current system and when software products (architecture and design, as well as code) are reused in future systems.
Rationale Management in Software Engineering
PaechSuccessful software engineering is contingent on the decision-making abilities of the stakeholders involved.Rationale is the justification behind decisions and is indispensable for communicating decisions. This bookcollects the current status of capturing and using rationale for software engineering as a resource and an incentive for all software engineers who strive to enhance their ability to make decisions.
