ITI treatment guide, Vol.14 : Immediate implant placement and loading-single or multiple teeth requiring replacement

Outlines the current literature on immediate implant placement and immediate loading and elaborates on our understanding of the biology surrounding tooth extraction and osseointegration that underpin these treatment concepts. The importance of patient and site selection in conjunction with comprehensive treatment planning is highlighted and a risk assessment tool to aid decision making is provided. All key aspects of both the surgical and loading procedures are described in order to provide protocols that optimize the final treatment outcome. This volume also presents 9 step-by-step clinical cases performed by experts in the field, and typical complications of immediate implants are discussed, along with recommendations on how these can be prevented.

ITI treatment guide ; Vol.13 : Prevention and management of peri-implant diseases

Provides clinicians with the latest evidence-based information on the prevention and management of peri-implant diseases. This information is based in part on the proceedings of the 6th ITI Consensus Conference held in Amsterdam in 2018, as well as on a review of the current literature. Seventeen clinical cases presented by experienced clinicians from all over the world illustrate the diagnosis and treatment of peri-implant diseases.

ITI treatment guide ; Vol.11 : Digital workflows in implant dentistry

Addressing the technology and tools necessary to incorporate DDT into a traditional workflow, along with the clinical steps required for data acquisition, such as CBCT imaging and intraoral, extraoral, and facial scanning. The software tools needed to interpret the digital data are presented, and instructions are given on how to integrate data sets to virtually reconstruct the patient s orofacial anatomy. In addition, a series of 13 clinical cases illustrate digital technologies applied to oral implantology.

ITI treatment guide ; Vol.1 : Implant therapy in the esthetic zone : Single-tooth replacements

Focuses on implant therapy for single-tooth replacement in the esthetic zone. It guides readers through the entire treatment process, beginning with assessment of the patient's individual esthetic risk profile and proceeding through ideal three-dimensional implant placement and proven prosthetic management options. Various procedures are illustrated through patient case studies. Detailed illustrations serve to clarify any potential ambiguities, and potential complications are explored to avert the most common problems.

Italian Institutional Reforms : A Public Choice Perspective

Using a public choice perspective, this book explains the evolution and political and economic impact of recent changes to the Italian institutional framework. Because these changes are so numerous and broad, their implementation serves as a case study for other Western governments. Particular attention is paid to the introduction of the EURO, the reform of voting from proportional to majoritarian rule, the impact of corporatism, constraints imposed by the Maastricht Treaty, and the switch from a highly centralized government to a federal organization.

Computational Acoustics of Noise Propagation in Fluids - Finite and Boundary Element Methods

Among numerical methods applied in acoustics, the Finite Element Method (FEM) is normally favored for interior problems whereas the Boundary Element Method (BEM) is quite popular for exterior ones. That is why this valuable reference provides a complete survey of methods for computational acoustics, namely FEM and BEM. It demonstrates that both methods can be effectively used in the complementary cases. The chapters by well-known authors are evenly balanced: 10 chapters on FEM and 10 on BEM. An initial conceptual chapter describes the derivation of the wave equation and supplies a unified approach to FEM and BEM for the harmonic case. A categorization of the remaining chapters and a personal outlook complete this introduction. In what follows, both FEM and BEM are discussed in the context of very different problems.

Computable Models of the Law : Languages, Dialogues, Games, Ontologies

This book originate from a workshop held at the European University Institute of Florence, Italy, in December 2006. The workshop was devoted to the discussion of the different ways of understanding and explaining contemporary law, for the purpose of building computable models of it -- especially models enabling the development of computer applications for the legal domain.

Component-Based Digital Movie Production : Reference Model of an Integrated Production System

The ongoing digitization process affects all areas of the media industry. Within the scientific discussion, movie production is little observed although it currently faces crucial structural developments. The change to digital production processes allows new ways of cooperation and coordination in the project networks. Marcus Pankow examines the specifics of the movie production industry and its value-creating processes, reflecting the digitization and its impact on the information systems strategy. An empirical case study analysis forms the basis for the development of a reference model for a company-wide application system to support the entire movie production process. Following the concept of a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), he encapsulates established applications in services and integrates them on one platform.

Complexity Management in Fuzzy Systems : A Rule Base Compression Approach

This book presents a systematic study on the inherent complexity in fuzzy systems, resulting from the large number and the poor transparency of the fuzzy rules. The study uses a novel approach for complexity management, aimed at compressing the fuzzy rule base by removing the redundancy while preserving the solution. The compression is based on formal methods for presentation, manipulation, transformation and simplification of fuzzy rule bases, which are illustrated by algorithms as well as results from numerous examples and two case studies. The results are directly applicable or easily extendable to a wide class of fuzzy systems and detailed benchmarks for expanding these systems to new areas such as fuzzy networks and fuzzy multi-agent systems are introduced. The intended readers are people from both academia and industry, who would be interested in building and implementing advanced fuzzy systems.

Complex System Maintenance Handbook

Complex System Maintenance Handbook is the first book to integrate this vast literature with chapters written by internationally-renowned active researchers and experienced practitioners focussing on different aspects of maintenance. Each chapter reviews the literature dealing with a particular aspect of maintenance, reports on developments and trends in a particular industry sector, or presents a case study.

Complex Anorectal Disorders : Investigation and Management

Book has focused on the broad structural investigation of the anorectum and on the focused management of largely “functional” problems. And it has done so in style. For this is a core area of specialist practice;your more general colleagues may think twice before referring you new cases of cancer and in?ammatory bowel disease (both also central areas in colorectal surgery), but they will not hesitate in referring the patients whose inves- gation and management are described here. And they will expect you to know how to deal with them. These are some of the most challenging patients to manage. Rightly have the editors covered the physiological areas, rightly the psychological issues, rightly the medicolegal aspects: here is the making of a specialist—the sword and the shield.

Competition Authorities in South Eastern Europe : Building Institutions in Emerging Markets

Provides answers to key open questions concerning competition policy in emerging economies, with a focus on South Eastern Europe. The contributions address two major issues. One is the design of competition policy and the national competition authorities that enforce it, including the topics of competition advocacy and state aid control; the other is the use of economic methods in competition law enforcement, especially in the cases of relevant market definition and merger control. Many lessons learned in the countries of South Eastern Europe can be applied to the emerging markets of other regions. As such, the findings presented here will be highly relevant for officials and staff at national competition authorities, advisers to legislators shaping national competition policy, competition law professionals, and university students alike.

Community-Acquired Pneumonia

Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is a disease associated with high morbidity and mortality, with at least one third of cases requiring hospitalization, exceeding the numbers admitted for myocardial infarction and stroke. Despite a broad armamentarium of antimicrobials available, it remains an important cause of death in industrialized countries. CAP is caused by a variety of pathogens with their order of importance dependent on the location and population studied. Despite the importance of CAP, reliable data and a recommended evidence-based therapy are lacking, and basic research must be improved. The goal of this volume is to present state-of-the-art knowledge on epidemiology, clinical presentation, immunology, pathology, and diagnosis including the identification of "new pathogens". Therapeutic approaches, antibiotics resistance, disease management and vaccination strategies are also covered. The volume is of interest to researchers and clinicians in virology, epidemiology and biomedicine.
