The Formation Process of SME Networks : A comparative case analysis of social processes in Austria, Belgium and Turkey

Although the advantages of cooperations, such as cost sharing, access to new markets and increased flexibility, are well-known and discussed in literature, the realization of the concept remains challenging.Marita Haas claims that social processes are decisive for the success of SME networks and creates a phase concept based on group theory that describes how owners of small enterprises enter into a cooperation. The framework is applied to three network formation cases in Austria, Belgium and Turkey. The author shows that group theory is a useful tool to understand and anticipate processes in networked organizations and indicates that the group formation process must be accomplished before a network will be able to create benefits.

The Female Pelvic Floor : Function, Dysfunction and Management According to the Integral Theory

The IVS operation was so simple and ef ective that I adopted it immediately. The operations promise a new era for women, virtually pain-free cure of prolapse and incontinence without catheters, and return to normal activities within days. Now, ten years later, more than 500,000 ‘tension-free’ anterior or posterior sling operations have been performed. One case in particular stands out from those early years. A woman patient in her mid-50’s came to see me with a f ve year history of urinary retention which required an indwelling catheter.

The digital health in the pandemic era

Digital health, virtual assistance, and telemedicine are terms often used interchangeably to refer to remote medical assistance, monitoring and care. Several studies and insights have developed these issues, analyzing the advantages and disadvantages and successes and failures and offering reflections on the implications and issues of these technologies in the health domain. The results of these investigations are affecting the redesign of hospital and outpatient management based on digital innovation using eHealth and mHealth. During the COVID-19 pandemic, this approach made it possible to offer assistance and continue care at home, protecting patients, preserving health workers, limiting the spread of the virus, and reducing the need for hospitalization. This reprint contains contributions dealing with the development of DH during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Definitive Guide to Apache mod_rewrite

Organizing websites is highly dynamic and often chaotic. Thus, it is crucial that host web servers manipulate URLs in order to cope with temporarily or permanently relocated resources, prevent attacks by automated worms, and control resource access. The Apache mod_rewrite module has long inspired fits of joy because it offers an unparalleled toolset for manipulating URLs. The Definitive Guide to Apache mod_rewrite guides you through configuration and use of the module for a variety of purposes, including basic and conditional rewrites, access control, virtual host maintenance, and proxies.

The Biofilm Primer

This book details the widely accepted hypothesis that the majority of bacteria in virtually all ecosystems grow in matrix-enclosed biofilms. The author, who proposed this biofilm hypothesis, uses direct evidence from microscopy and from molecular techniques, presenting cogent reasons for moving beyond conventional culture methods that dominated microbiology throughout the last century. Bacteria grow predominantly in biofilms in all natural, engineered, and pathogenic ecosystems, and this book provides a solid basis for the understanding of bacterial processes in environmental, industrial, agricultural, dental and medical microbiology. Using a unique "ecological" perspective, the author explores the commensal and pathogenic colonization of human organ systems.

Contains the proceedings from the 3rd International Conference on Technologies for Interactive Digital Storytelling and Entertainment (TIDSE 2006). The contributions are grouped into six sections, which include subjects like virtual characters, story authoring, narrative systems, and examples of their application. During recent years, Interactive Digital Storytelling has evolved as a prospering - search topic, banding together formerly disjoined disciplines stemming from the arts and humanities as well as computer science. The subject of this book is of course strongly related to the notion of ‘storytelling’, which has been used as an effective means for the communication of knowledge and social values, ever since the early history of humankind. It also tries to build a bridge between current academic trends.

Talking faces : Audio driven talking faces

Talking face generation aims to synthesize a sequence of face images and voices of characters corresponding to their identities, it can serve several solutions; such as voice tone, facial expression, with a good lip synchronization. Therefore, we propose virtual news anchor based on real news anchor called Brooke Baldwin, which reads the texts by itself, reports tirelessly 24/7 for anyone in the world. Several methods and algorithms applied in this project using the dataset to simulate the voice, personalize facial expression and natural head poses to present a life-like image instead of a cold robot. Transfer learning and fine-tuning approaches used to serve this project by taking pre-trained models over LRW (Lip reading in the wild) dataset and fine-tune them to achieve our goal.

Surgical Scene Generation for Virtual Reality-Based Training in Medicine

One of the most important elements needed for effective training in Virtual Reality (VR) is the generation of variable scenarios. Without this, trainees quickly become familiar with a scene and the natural variations encountered in real-life situations cannot be reproduced. Generating such models in VR-based applications is difficult, but with the increase in computational power (allowing for larger and more finely-detailed virtual environments) there is an increasing demand for improved methods for model acquisition, enhancement, optimization and adaptation.
