Tumors of the Spinal Canal
Presents a focused, case-oriented approach to a specific disease entity: tumors located within the spinal canal. Each tumor type constitutes its own chapter and additional chapters focus on more novel trends in the field, such as radiosurgery and minimally invasive surgical techniques. In each chapter, the authors provide expert opinions on preoperative goals, intraoperative techniques and decision-making, and postoperative paradigms, including surveillance guidelines and thresholds for initiating adjuvant therapy. The management of intradural tumors has become increasingly interdisciplinary, and one of the major goals of this text is to familiarize the treating neurosurgeon with the latest advances in both operative and non-operative strategies.

Tumor Angiogenesis : Basic Mechanisms and Cancer Therapy
Preface Tumor development and progression occur as a result of cumulative acquisition of genetic alterations affecting oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes. As a consequence of these alterations the arising tumor gains some fatal properties such as increased cell proliferation and decreased apoptosis, resulting in a net accumulation of tra- formed cells. Once a critical volume is achieved, lack of oxygen and nutrients limits further growth. To overcome this obstacle, the tumor cells initiate a program focused on the formation of new blood vessels within the host tissue. This process is termed tumor angiogenesis and contributes to the progression of most solid tumors and the formation of metastases. Since its discovery more than 30 years ago by Dr. Judah Folkman, tumor angiog- esis has been proposed as an ideal target for novel tumor therapies. Today the first anti-angiogenic compounds are available for the treatment of patients but their s- cess in the clinic is rather limited when given as monotherapies.
Tumor Ablation : Principles and Practice
Sets the standard and is one of the first comprehensive references on the subject. The editors, world-renowned in the field, have assembled recognized international authorities in their areas of expertise. The book is organized into six main sections: Introduction to Ablation, Operations, Imaging, Methods, Organ System Tumor Ablation, and Perspectives. This breadth of coverage is coupled with an easy-to-read format that facilitates the application of these new clinical techniques. Practitioners in specialties other than radiology, including internal medicine, oncology, anesthesiology, and surgery, add valuable insights that complement the book’s well-rounded approach. In addition, a chapter that depicts the cancer journey by patients and their families provides a unique perspective for the reader. More than 380 photographs and diagrams clearly illustrate key concepts. The skillful combination of depth and practicality makes this text essential for anyone who is involved with and wants to expand their knowledge in the ablation field.
Tumeurs endocrines thoraciques et digestives = Thoracic and digestive endocrine tumors
There is little literature on digestive and thoracic endocrine tumors. The complexity of their management, often entrusted to different specialists, the multiplicity of terminologies used to designate them, the diversity of their locations and their characterization explain this lack of work. A synthesis of clinical knowledge relating to these pathologies was therefore necessary; requirement reinforced by the arrival of new imaging techniques and new treatments. This book takes the gamble of a transversal approach to the study of these tumors while emphasizing their common characteristics; once the clinical and prognostic characteristics have been stated, the authors study the different therapeutic weapons.

Tsunami and Nonlinear Waves
The need for tsunami research and analysis has grown dramatically following the devastating tsunami of December 2004, which affected Southern Asia. This book pursues a detailed theoretical and mathematical analysis of the fundamentals of tsunamis, especially the evolution and dynamics of tsunamis and other great waves. Of course, it includes specific measurement results from the 2004 tsunami, but the emphasis centres on the nature of the waves themselves and their links to nonlinear phenomena. Throughout, methods of nonlinear dynamics and integrable systems are employed to develop novel concep.

Trophies of Victory : Public Building in Periklean Athens
Greek military victories at Marathon, Salamis, and Plataia during the Persian Wars profoundly shaped fifth-century politics and culture. Examines each building in detail, including its archaeological reconstruction, architectural design, sculptural decoration, chronology, and construction history. Shear emphasizes the Parthenon's revolutionary features and how they influenced smaller contemporary temples. He examines inscriptions that show how every aspect of public works was strictly controlled by the Athenian Assembly. In the case of the buildings on the Acropolis and the Telesterion at Eleusis, he looks at accounts of their overseers, which illuminate the administration, financing, and organization of public works.
