The impact of the abuse of power by Syrian companies on their financial performance : An applied study at Damascus securities exchange
Presents an examination of abusing of power besides some variables impact on financial performance (ROE & ROA). Our test is applied on (22) listed companies at Damascus Securities Cxchange for the period (2019) to (2023). The objective is to determine the firms abusing power through a questioner was used, and to measure other variables as : age, size, employees number, employees benefits, marketing and service benefits, BOD structure and audit report type, and then test their impact on key financial performance indicators, namely return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE).

The Impact of Market Makers on Liquidity at Bahrain Bourse
We compare between two types of trading systems at Bahrain Bourse; the first one is called auction trading while the second one called market making. We wanted to know which would could offer more liquidity and more activity on selling / buying securities. We use paired sample t-test to compare trading volumes of both trading systems and find that trading volumes increases upon the application of new trading system. This study gives important insights to the management of Damascus Securities Exchange (DSE) and recommends the need to a move to market makers system to avoid continuous changes in reference prices upon the activation of article 35 of trading regulations.
The Impact of E-trading on the liquidity of Damascus Securities Exchange
This study aims to evaluate the impact of introducing electronic trading system in Damascus Securities Exchange (DSE) on market liquidity. To achieve this objective, we collect data on trading volume before and after the introduction of e-trading It is the only authorized entity in Syria in which previously issued securities are traded in the primary market for the whole period (2020-2022). Using SPSS, we apply the independent sample t-test to answer this question. We document an increase in trading volumes after the introduction of the e-trading services slightly but insignificantly. That is, after offering E-trading, we figured out an increase in the number of shares traded, however,it did not make a significant differences in trading volumes.

Announcements represent an important source of information to investors at stock exchanges and they are the center of the tests of market efficiency at the semi-strong level. Damascus Securities Exchange (DSE) extensively publish announcements on variety of topics that range from dividends to changes in boards. This study examines the effect of four types of announcements on stock returns for companies listed at DSE for the period from 2020 to 2021. Examines whether psychological biases exist at Damascus Securities Exchange. It also tests whether they affect investors decisions and performance at Damascus Securities Exchange (DSE). Investors psychological biases were measured through a questionnaire, containing which intermediary company they work in, including indicators of speculators, investment decision making, and investment performance variables. We use correlation and regression analysis to examine our hypothesis and find that Syrian investors at DSE are affected by both fundamental factors and psychological biases. Surprisingly, fundamental factors have more impact on investors decisions than psychological biases, which is uncommon in emerging stock markets.
