Directed Metallation
a new chelation-assisted methodology has been developed not only for controlling regio- and stereoselectivity of reactions, but also for accelerating reactions. In particular, chelation-methodology has been utilized as a new activation method, in which a carbon-metal bond is generated directly from a C-H bond; a reaction rarely achieved using conventional methods. A wide variety of catalytic functionalization reactions of C-H bonds by the utilization of a chelation, have been developed recently and are comprehensively discussed in this book by leading experts. In addition, new approaches to directed hydrometalation and directed carbometalation as a key step are also discussed. This book provides an introduction to the most recent developments in the theory and practice of direct and inverse Sturm-Liouville problems on finite and infinite intervals. A universal approach for practical solving of direct and inverse spectral and scattering problems is presented, based on the notion of transmutation (transformation) operators and their efficient construction. Analytical representations for solutions of Sturm-Liouville equations as well as for the integral kernels of the transmutation operators are derived in the form of functional series revealing interesting special features and lending themselves to direct and simple numerical solution of a wide variety of problems.

The book investigates the sustainability dimensions of cities through a series of projects based on a common list of elements of urban form, and which draw on the consortium’s latest research to review the sustainability issues of each dimension. The elements of urban form include density, land use, location, accessibility, transport infrastructure and characteristics of the built environment.

The main objective of this book is to give a broad unified introduction to the study of dimension and recurrence in hyperbolic dynamics. It includes the discussion of the foundations, main results, and main techniques in the rich interplay of four main areas of research: hyperbolic dynamics, dimension theory, multifractal analysis, and quantitative recurrence.
