Integration Processes and Policies in Europe : Contexts, Levels and Actors

Integrated Urban Water Resources Management
Growing populations and rising standards of living exert stress on water supply and the quality of drinking water. In wastewater management, new challenges are caused by new chemicals of concern, including endocrine disrupters, pharmaceuticals, hormones, and personal care products, which often pass through wastewater treatment plants unabated, but may cause serious impacts on receiving aquatic ecosystems. Advanced wastewater treatment leads to production of biosolids, which are processed in various ways, including on-land applications in agriculture. Municipal effluents, combined with increasing withdrawals of water, lead to the worsening of receiving water quality. Expert opinions indicate that the only way to deal with the current urban water management dilemmas is by integrated management and innovative delivery of water services. Integral bridges : a fundamental approach to the time–temperature loading problem
In recent years, integral bridges have become increasingly popular in the UK. The Highways Agency standard now requires, where possible, that all new bridges with a length of less than sixty metres should be of integral form. In addition, it has been found that, due especially to the problems and costs associated with failed expansion joints, integral bridges are not only cost effective but also have a longer lifespan. Integral Bridges was commissioned by the Highways Agency to produce guidance for bridge designers by addressing the thermally induced soil/structure interaction problem created by environmental changes of temperature and the associated cyclical displacements imposed on the granular backfill to the bridge abutments. It develops a better theoretical understanding of the cyclic performance, in particular the strain racheting in the backfill soil when in contact with a stiff structure. It also identifies the governing soil parameters and examines their influence in the interaction problem, develops numerical modelling procedures to predict interactive soil behaviour, and identifies and quantifies the controlling features of bridge structures relevant to the interaction problem.
Instrumaster
Experiments with different neural network structures and algorithms in order to achieve musical note recognition as well as musical instrument recognition, all bundled in a mobile application. It also aims to create the most effective music-learning application that works completely offline, which is hard to find in modern music applications. The paper also explores why the instrument identifying AI is solely based on Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) and why the note-identifying AI system was chosen to be a ML system over CNN or other deep-learning trained AI. The paper presents feature extraction methods for audio signals and files and dives deep into the process, such as FFT, MFCCs, Wavelengths, sampling rates, etc. It also touches on Logistic Regression Algorithms, their limitations, and their performance with the different use cases in the application. All these techniques are then compared side by side for maximally added value, making this research paper a good reference for any future developers looking to find optimal neural networks techniques when it comes to audio processing and analysis.

All of them must be considered in a united manner in order to investigate and understand the emergence and evolution of communities in the Internet: knowledge about networking, content and text processing as well as theory. The goal of the I2CS workshop is to bring researchers from both industry and academic fields together to discuss current progress and future developments in these areas and to eliminate the gap between theory and application. At this point, we want to express immense gratitude to all the authors of the submitted papers and to the members of the international Program Committee for their contribution to the success of the event and a program of high quality. In a peer-to-peer review process, 17 papers were selected out of 27 submissions.

Information and Management Systems for Product Customization
This book consists of three parts. In the first part, within the theoretical basics of mass customization are discussed, and within the theoretical context, the main problems that are encountered with the implementation of mass customization are outlined. Part two deals with the development of appropriate information systems for mass customization. Part three discusses the topic of product modularity. More specifically, this part develops a managerial approach or tool to assess and solve complexity issues induced by the variety of needs expressed by customers.
