Dr. Tarek Barhoum

He is a Professor of Computer Engineering and Control and a faculty member at the Faculty of Informatics and Communications Engineering at the Arab International University as well as the Director of Student Affairs at the university. He holds a PhD in Computer Engineering and Control from Tishreen University (Lattakia) after obtaining a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and Control from the same university specializing in artificial intelligence deep learning intelligent control systems and robotics. He is a member of the advisory board for several international scientific journals in addition to serving as a scientific reviewer for research papers and articles in a number of indexed international journals. He possesses academic and research experience spanning more than thirteen years in university teaching scientific supervision and developing research projects in the fields of intelligent systems the Internet of Things and advanced artificial intelligence applications. He teaches a wide range of advanced courses including artificial intelligence machine learning deep learning computer vision neural networks fuzzy logic microcontrollers and embedded systems. He also supervises graduation and undergraduate projects in the fields of robotics and intelligent systems and participates in academic and jury committees in addition to teaching equivalent courses for the Ministry of Higher Education in the fields of artificial intelligence automatic control and digital systems. Dr. Barhoum has held the position of Director of Student Affairs at the Arab International University since 2023 where he contributes to the development of academic and organizational systems oversees service units and student activities and enhances institutional work related to student affairs. He has teaching experience at several Syrian universities including Al-Antakiya Syrian University Al-Kalamoon University and Tishreen University in addition to his previous work at the Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport. He also participated in international academic mobility programs within Erasmus+ at European universities and institutions in Rome and Athens. Dr. Barhoum has published a number of peer-reviewed scientific research papers in the fields of artificial intelligence data processing intelligent systems and deep learning and has participated in international scientific conferences as well as supervising student projects that participated in prominent scientific and technical exhibitions such as HiTech and the exhibitions of the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Damascus University.
