Dr. Mazen Rajab

He began his academic career at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Damascus, where he earned his Bachelor's degree and completed postgraduate studies in pharmaceutical industry. He then obtained a Master's degree from Paris Descartes University (Paris 5) and a PhD from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in Germany, where his dissertation focused on the development of metformin tablets that mimic the diurnal variation of glucose levels.

He has over 20 years of experience in innovative dosage form development, pharmaceutical nanotechnology, design of novel antimicrobial agents, as well as molecular modeling and pharmaceutical data analysis.

He worked at the Pharmacovigilance Center in Paris in collaboration with the World Health Organization, contributing to the development of methods for assessing the causal relationship of adverse drug reactions. He also served as Production Manager at Pamela Pharmaceutical Industries in Damascus, where he led automation efforts and the development of new formulations. Since 2005, he has dedicated his efforts as a researcher at the Arab International University, leading projects on the use of nanotechnology for drug development, designing innovative antibiotics, and conducting clinical and bioequivalence studies. In 2017, he assumed the position of Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy for Academic Affairs at the university, combining academic administration with applied research.

In addition to his practical experience, he has a rich record of innovations; he was granted a European patent for an innovative metformin-based formulation for the treatment of diabetes, and a French patent for a multi-purpose system for spectroscopic measurements using image analysis. He has also published numerous research papers in prestigious international scientific journals, covering diverse topics from dosage form development to toxicology and pharmacoepidemiology studies, as well as recent research on the COVID-19 vaccine and inflammatory factors among university youth. He has participated in local and international conferences and training workshops, including Erasmus+ programs (Digihealth and Youth will be Free).
