Dr. Ola Almoudi Altunsieh

Dr. Ola Almoudi Altunsieh

Faculty Member at the College of Architectural Engineering – Arab International University

She holds a Ph.D. in Ancient Near Eastern Archaeology from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, after obtaining a Master’s degree in Ancient Near Eastern Archaeology from the same university and a Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities – University of Damascus. She has extensive experience in academic research, higher education, and supervising graduate theses in the fields of architecture, sculpture, and archaeology of the ancient Levant.

She has held several academic and administrative positions, including: Professor in the Department of Archaeology, editorial board member of peer-reviewed academic journals, and Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the College of Tourism. She is also a member of international and national organizations such as ICOMOS and the Arab Writers Union.

She has supervised a wide range of Master’s and Ph.D. theses addressing advanced topics in architecture, sculpture, religious symbols, and arts in Syria and Mesopotamia. She also possesses a rich academic portfolio, including books and research papers published in local and international peer-reviewed journals, along with active participation in academic conferences both within Syria and abroad. In 2024, she received the Young Researcher Award from the University of Damascus in recognition of her outstanding research contributions.

Her work focuses on reinterpreting ancient Syrian heritage through a comparative scientific approach and highlighting its role in shaping the cultural identity of the Levant.
