Dr. Mayson Eid
An academic specializing in urban studies and city planning, she earned a degree in Architectural Engineering from Tishreen University before moving to France to pursue her graduate studies. In the same year, she obtained a Diplôme d'Études Approfondies (DEA) in City and Society from Paris X University – Nanterre. She continued her academic journey in France, earning a Ph.D. in Urban Studies and City Planning and Organization from Paris VIII University – Saint-Denis.
Since 2007, she has held a faculty position in the Department of Planning and Environment at the College of Architectural Engineering, Damascus University, where she teaches courses in urban planning and organization, urban planning, city planning, architectural design, and site coordination. She also contributes to teaching advanced courses at the Higher Institute of Regional Planning, such as city master plans, development plan preparation, and housing policies.
In addition to her work at Damascus University, she has taught at Al-Yarmouk Private University and currently teaches at the Arab International University. She has supervised numerous graduation projects and master’s theses in the fields of urban planning and spatial development.
She has participated in numerous conferences, seminars, and workshops both within Syria and internationally, including workshops at the Higher Institute of Regional Planning, the College of Architectural Engineering, and the First Scientific Conference on Reconstruction at Damascus University. She has also taken part in specialized research workshops in France at the Universities of Marne-la-Vallée and Lille, in addition to being a member of the Orients Urbains team, which focuses on studying the urban and architectural character of French cities.
She has held several key positions, most notably Vice Dean for Scientific Affairs at the Higher Institute of Regional Planning, membership in the committee for preparing the regional plan for the Southern Region in Syria, and participation in developing the National Guide for Spatial Development Indicators. She has also been a visiting lecturer at the Polytechnic University of Bari in Italy under the Erasmus+ program, served as head of the faculty union unit at the College of Architectural Engineering, and been a member of the scientific committee for evaluating graduate theses.
