Ph. Muhammad Ghannam

A researcher and lecturer specialized in pharmacognosy and medicinal plants, holding a PhD and a Master's degree in this field from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Damascus, after obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the same university. He has over 14 years of academic experience in both practical and theoretical teaching of courses in pharmacognosy, pharmacognosy chemistry, applied pharmacognosy, plant biology, and pharmacy history and legislation at several Syrian universities, most notably the Arab International University, Qasioun University, and Al-Jazeera University.

His research interests focus on the microscopic study of medicinal plants widespread in Syria, isolation of active compounds and their structural determination using modern techniques such as GC-MS and NMR, as well as evaluating their antibacterial and antifungal activities and their role in inhibiting biofilm formation. He also studies the effect of plant extracts on dissolving gallstones.

He has published a number of scientific papers in peer-reviewed international journals, including the Arab Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, PLOS ONE, and SN Applied Sciences.
