Prof. Dr. Zina Malek
She is an academic and researcher in neurosciences and physiology. She holds a PhD and a postdoctoral fellowship from Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg, following a Master’s degree in Neurosciences from the same university, where she specialized in demyelinating diseases and neuroimaging. She also earned a Master’s degree in Cell Biology and Physiology from the University of Dijon, France, a Postgraduate Diploma in Zoology from Damascus University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the same university.
Currently, she serves as a Professor of Physiology at the Faculty of Pharmacy at both the Arab International University and Al-Sham Private University, where she teaches courses in physiology, pathophysiology, and oral and dental physiology. She also holds the position of Head of the Scientific Committee for Biology in the Syrian Biology Olympiad at the Distinction and Creativity Agency, in addition to being a member of the editorial boards for several international scientific journals. She has contributed to developing educational programs, supervising scientific research and Master’s students, and training medical personnel.
She has received several prestigious awards and fellowships, including the French Medical Research Foundation fellowship, the Polonium Research Exchange fellowship between France and Poland, and the Best PhD Thesis award from the European Doctoral College in Strasbourg.
Her research record includes more than 40 peer-reviewed articles published in Scopus-indexed journals, and she serves as an editorial board member for international journals such as FMDB Neuroscience Letters and the Journal of Biomedicine and Chemical Sciences. She has also participated in international scientific conferences and supervised postgraduate students in various fields.
Her research interests focus on circadian rhythms, neuroendocrinology, stress physiology, serotonin regulation, neurobiological techniques, and the development of medical curricula. ORCID: 0009-0006-7075-7991
