Dr. Raghdaa Al Zarzour

Dr. Raghdaa Al Zarzour

A researcher and university professor specializing in Pharmacology, with over 20 years of academic and research experience in Syrian and Malaysian universities. She obtained her PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Science, Malaysia (USM), where her thesis addressed the effect of Phyllanthus niruri extracts on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. She also holds a Master’s degree in Pharmacology from Damascus University and a Bachelor’s in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

Dr. Al-Zarzour currently serves as a faculty member in Pharmacology at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Arab International University, and has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Damascus University, since 2022. She previously served as a lecturer at the University of Science, Malaysia, between 2017 and 2022, in addition to her experience as a teaching assistant in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology for three years.

She possesses extensive experience in practical and theoretical teaching in the fields of pharmacology and toxicology, alongside her professional experience as a pharmacist at Al-Shami Hospital in Damascus, and her experience in the pharmaceutical industry as a production manager at Domina Pharmaceutical Company.

Her research interests focus on metabolic syndrome disorders, including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, obesity, and diabetes, in addition to a special interest in medicinal plants and their therapeutic roles, natural compounds, and their molecular mechanisms. She has published more than 20 scientific researches in international peer-reviewed journals and has a distinguished research presence on Google Scholar (i10-index: 12) and ORCID.

She has received several international awards and research grants, including the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) from the Malaysian Ministry of Education, Excellence Awards in the high-impact publication category from the University of Science, Malaysia, and a short-term research grant from the University of Science, Malaysia.
