Prof. Dr. Linda Hussain
A clinical pharmacist and researcher with extensive experience exceeding 15 years in the fields of academic education, clinical pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, and drug regulation. She began her academic career as a lecturer in Syrian faculties of pharmacy and currently serves as a lecturer at the Arab International University, where she teaches courses in Clinical Pharmacy, Hospital Pharmacy, Biopharmaceutics, and Pharmacokinetics, in addition to supervising student graduation projects.
She holds a PhD in Clinical Pharmacy from Heinrich Heine University, Germany, where she completed a dissertation on the pharmacokinetics of Sildenafil in children with pulmonary arterial hypertension. She also holds a Higher Graduate Diploma in Microbiology, Hematology, and Immunology from Damascus University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from Latakia University.
She possesses pioneering experience in the field of pharmacovigilance, having served as the Head of the Pharmacovigilance Unit at the Syrian Ministry of Health for several years. She contributed to establishing the National Pharmacovigilance System and creating the national database for adverse drug reactions, as well as developing the reporting system for vaccine adverse events, including COVID-19 vaccines. She also coordinated with the Uppsala Monitoring Centre (WHO-UMC) and represented Syria in regional and international meetings of the WHO Programme for International Drug Monitoring (WHO PIDM).
On the research level, she has broad experience in clinical pharmaceutical studies, including the development of modern analytical drug methods using techniques such as LC-MS/MS, and the study of drug interactions and adverse reactions, particularly in children. She has multiple publications in prestigious international journals on off-label drug use, drug interaction assessment, and drug analysis methods, reflecting her prominent scientific contribution. She has also participated in reviewing scientific manuscripts for international journals.
