Dr. Mayyada Al-Qaraan

Academic and Judge. Holds a Bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Damascus, followed by a Master's degree in Private Law, and a PhD in Private Law from the University of Damascus.

She began her professional career as a trainee lawyer, then worked at the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform as Deputy Head of Division in the Directorate of Administrative and Legal Affairs. Later, she joined the Higher Institute of the Judiciary as a trainee judge, progressing through the judicial system to assume the position of President of the Civil Court of First Instance in Damascus, a position she still holds.

Alongside her judicial work, she works as a lecturer at the Faculty of Law at the Arab International University (AIU), as well as at the Higher Institute for Legal Studies (Technical Law Institute), where she teaches courses in private law.

She has several research papers published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, including: Proving the Lineage of an Illegitimate Child by DNA Fingerprinting, The Effect of Suffering from a Terminal Illness on the Patient's Dispositions, and Civil Liability of Blood Transfusion Centers.

She has also participated in specialized workshops on international humanitarian law, quality management, and arbitration, and has obtained certificates in quality management and legal skills.
