Study of Tinea Capitis among Children in Damascus between 2011-2015

Abstract |
Tinea capitis is a common fungal infection of the scalp. The purpose of this study was to determine the percentage of the spread of tinea capitisin Damascus and determine the type of this tinea capitis and lasted between 2011 and 2015. The study was conducted on 317 samples were taken from sick children to reviewers informant specialized fungal diseases between the ages of 6-14yars, infected hairs were examined microscopically after eclairssisement using alkaline potassium hydroxide 30%. The total number of patients317 samples were distributed among 176 male sample (55.5%) and 141 female sample (44.5%). The number of injuries total 129 positive sample which represents 40.7% were distributed between tina Trichophyton 14 samples 10.8% and tinaMicrosporidum (Ecothrix)115 sample rate of 89.2% and the number of negative samples 198 samples (70.5%). Positive samples in males reached 73 sample an increase of 56.6% female and 56 sample at a rate of 43.4%. It was noted in the study that tina Trichophyton rate was more prevalent in females (11) than in males (3), while tinaMicrosporidum were in males (70) than females (45). And it found during the study that the prevalence of injuries was more in the months of school and less in the summer months Due to the spread of tinea capitis in children inDamascus are advised to conduct laboratory examination to distinguish between fungal infections and other skin conditions Keywords: Tinea capitis, Trichophyton, Microsporum, diagnosis, Damascus . |
