Prof. Dr. Linda Hussain
A clinical pharmacist and researcher with extensive experience exceeding 15 years in academic education, clinical pharmacy, and pharmacovigilance. She currently holds the position of lecturer at the Arab International University, where she teaches courses in clinical pharmacy and hospital pharmacy, and supervises student graduation projects.
She holds a PhD in Clinical Pharmacy from Heinrich Heine University in Germany, where she completed a dissertation on the pharmacokinetics of Sildenafil in children with pulmonary arterial hypertension. She also holds a postgraduate diploma in microbiology, hematology, and immunology from the University of Damascus, and a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from the University of Latakia.
She has pioneering experience in the field of pharmacovigilance, having served as Head of the Pharmacovigilance Unit at the Syrian Ministry of Health for several years. She contributed to the establishment of the national pharmacovigilance system, the creation of the national database for adverse drug reactions, and the issuance of the first pharmacovigilance legislation in Syria. She also contributed to the development of a national reporting system for adverse events following COVID-19 vaccination, in addition to organizing numerous training courses and workshops for healthcare professionals on pharmacovigilance and drug safety. During her work at the Ministry of Health, she coordinated with the Uppsala Monitoring Centre (WHO Collaborating Centre for International Drug Monitoring) and represented Syria in regional and international meetings of national pharmacovigilance centers.
On the research front, she has extensive experience in pharmaceutical clinical research, including the development of modern analytical methods for drugs using techniques such as LC-MS/MS, and the evaluation of drug use, especially in children. She has scientific publications in prestigious international journals on off-label drug use, assessment of drug interactions, and drug analysis methods. She has also participated in the peer review of scientific manuscripts for reputable journals, as well as the discussion and evaluation of master's and doctoral theses at Syrian universities.
