Dr. Ranim Khedr


Faculty Member at the College of Architectural Engineering – Arab International University

She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Latakia, followed by a Master’s degree in Architectural Design, and then a Ph.D. in Architectural Design from the same university.

She began her academic career as a technical staff member at the College of Architectural Engineering – University of Latakia (2008–2019) and also worked at the Faculty of Fine Arts – University of Latakia between 2016 and 2019, before joining the Arab International University in 2019 as a faculty member. Since 2025, she has been teaching at the College of Architectural Engineering – University of Damascus.

She has extensive experience in teaching various courses related to architectural design, interior architecture, engineering drawing, and graduation projects, having taught these subjects at the University of Latakia, the Arab International University, and the Faculty of Fine Arts. She has also supervised production workshops for fourth-year students, participated in exam monitoring and oversight committees, and served on university councils.

She has published numerous scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals, including studies on the quality of architectural design for residential buildings, the role of user participation in design, the use of hierarchical analysis to select the best design alternatives, and the evaluation of spatial elements in mosques from the perspective of Arab users. Her research has been published in local and international journals, including:
European International Journal of Science and Technology (UK), Journal of Southeast University (China).

She has participated in numerous workshops and scientific conferences and delivered lectures on tourism architecture, traditional architecture, and green architecture, in addition to training students in realistic drawing and various design techniques.

On the professional front, she has worked at the Engineering Studies and Consultancy Office in Baniyas, where she conducted architectural studies for residential buildings and decoration work for commercial establishments, and participated in the final master plan for the city of Latakia. She also gained training experience through participation in workshops at the Arab Contractors Company in Cairo and the Faculty of Architecture at Helwan University.
