Prof. Dr. Samir Shreba
A university professor and researcher specializing in electrical and electronics engineering, qualitative control systems, and digital systems. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (Qualitative Control) from Brunel University – United Kingdom, after obtaining a Master’s degree in Digital Systems from the same university and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Aleppo. He possesses over four decades of scientific and practical experience in scientific research, industry, and higher education.
He began his professional career at the Damascus Center for Scientific Studies and Research, where he progressed from an assistant researcher to a research director, leading strategic projects in industrial automation, automated testing, communications, and optical systems. He also served as the director of the Electronics Institute and later as an advisor to the Director General for Quality Control and Reliability until 2006. During this period, he contributed to the preparation of specialized technical reports, published research in international journals, and participated in scientific and industrial conferences and exhibitions both within Syria and abroad.
Since 2006, he has been engaged in academia at the Arab International University, working as a lecturer and then an assistant professor. He is currently a professor at the Faculty of Informatics and Communications Engineering. He served as the head of the Computers and Communications Department (2013–2017), supervised dozens of graduation projects, and taught core courses in electrical and electronic circuits, modern control theory, and specialized English.
Alongside his academic work, he has extensive practical experience in digital systems, control systems, reliability engineering, and solar energy. He is also a consultant at the Syrian Engineers Syndicate as a certified electrical designer.
