Dr. Almoutaz Alessa
He is an Associate Professor and expert in applied physics and laser technology with academic and research experience spanning more than three decades. He holds a PhD in Applied Physics from the University of Hull in England specializing in gas laser applications in microelectronics technology and a Master’s degree in Applied Physics from the same university in addition to a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Damascus University.
On the academic level he has served as a full-time Associate Professor in the Faculties of Engineering and Medical Sciences at the Arab International University since 2018 where he established advanced physics laboratories to train engineering and medical science students. Prior to that he held the position of Associate Professor at Al-Yarmouk Private University and worked at the Higher Institute for Laser Research and Applications at Damascus University where he supervised Master’s theses and participated in jury committees for postgraduate projects.
His practical experience extended from 1991 to 2010 as a lead researcher at the Scientific Studies and Research Center where he conducted advanced research in laser technology and applications and published numerous scientific reports on laser systems and their applications in engineering medical and environmental fields.
He also contributed to the development of educational curricula including preparing the internal regulations for the Higher Institute for Laser Research and the accreditation of Master’s programs and he participated in European funding projects to develop the Engineering Physics degree.
He has a track record of peer-reviewed scientific publications and research including eleven articles published during his doctoral studies and a chapter titled Laser Ablation Dynamics of Superconductor: Photo-acoustic and Spectroscopic Studies in the book Laser Ablation of Electronic Materials and he also authored two English textbooks for engineering students titled Experiments on Physics 1 and Experiments on Physics 2.
He participated in several advanced international training courses in Russia Slovenia and St. Petersburg on the design and operation of gas and solid-state laser systems and their environmental and medical applications.
The courses he teaches include general physics for engineers and medical sciences engineering mathematics and specialized courses in communications engineering such as electromagnetic waves and propagation electrical circuits and introduction to electronics.
