A workshop for developing a pharmaceutical formula and prospects for cooperation between universities and the pharmaceutical industry at the Arab International University

In the presence of Prof. Tamer Al-Hajjah, President of the University and the Syndicate of Pharmacists of Damascus, Dr. Alia Al-Assad The Arab International University, the College of Pharmacy and the Deanship of Scientific Research, held a workshop entitled: Development of a pharmaceutical formula and prospects for cooperation between universities and the pharmaceutical industry, on Saturday and Sunday 24 and 25 October 2020 at the College of Pharmacy.
The workshop was attended by a number of interested persons and specialists, representatives of ministries, public and private universities and pharmaceutical laboratories.
The workshop was opened by the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Maher Al-Qutaini  with a speech of welcome  Prof. dr. Marwan Al-Zebibi, Dean of Scientific Research and Postgraduate Studies, for scientific research activities at the University, and thanked Prof. dr. Mohiuddin Jumaa, founder of the Deanship of Scientific Research at the university.
 During the workshop, Dr. Mazen Ragab acquainted the audience with the pharmaceutical industry unit at the university and presented some of its works and gave an explanation of the cooperation between the university and the National Company for Pharmaceutical Industries, represented by Dr. Talal Al-Sharif, as well as Dr. Yusar Buseetji, from the National Company, gave an demonstration of the 500 Diaphage tablets, which are the fruit of this cooperation.  Dr. Ahmed Al-Tunisi introduced the Technological Development Unit, and gave an explanation of the equipment developed in the Technology Development Unit used in scientific research and the pharmaceutical industry. Lina Dalal and pharmacist Tariq Al-Sagheer gave a demo of this equipment. Dr. Laila Shehadeh gave a presentation of a collaboration experience between the Pharmaceutical Industry Unit and Tamico. 
The workshop was rich in dialogues and interventions of professors from pharmaceutical companies and universities.
The workshop was accompanied by a presentation of some research work carried out by students of the College of Pharmacy. The workshop ended with a discussion of prospects for cooperation between universities and the pharmaceutical industry.
