Dr. Lina Othman
A faculty member at the Faculty of Architecture, Arab International University since 2016, she currently holds the position of Vice Dean for Academic Affairs since 2020, in addition to serving as Head of the Execution and Building Sciences Department since 2018. She has extensive experience in academic supervision, having overseen numerous Master’s theses and graduation projects at both Damascus University and Arab International University.
She teaches a range of core courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including: Building Systems, Building Materials, Architectural Construction, Execution Details and Working Drawings, Graduation Project, and Graduation Project Thesis.
She earned her Ph.D. in Architecture from Damascus University, specializing in tectonic architecture, structural systems, and the relationship between structure and architecture, with applied research focusing on the impact of sustainable architecture principles and value engineering on reducing building operational costs. She also holds a Master’s degree in Building and Construction Sciences from the University of Aleppo, in addition to postgraduate studies in the same department.
She has authored several peer-reviewed research papers published in Syrian academic journals, addressing topics such as: load-bearing systems in construction, tectonic architecture, value engineering, structural behavior, and building materials.
She possesses academic and administrative expertise in: the credit-hour system, curriculum development, academic advising, learning management systems, and supervising graduation projects.
