ARCH. Huda Aseel
An architect with over four decades of experience in architectural design, preparation of executive studies, engineering supervision, and academic work. She holds a Master’s degree in Architectural Engineering from Damascus University, along with a Diploma in Architectural Engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering from the same university. She has been a consulting engineer at the Syrian Engineers Syndicate since 2000 and a department head at the Jordanian Engineers Association since 1995.
She began her professional career at the Urban Planning Unit of Damascus University, then worked as a research and teaching assistant at the University of Science and Technology in Jordan before joining the General Company for Studies and Technical Consultations in Damascus as a designer and group head. She also participated in the Amrit Tourism Project in collaboration with the Finnish company "DIVICO."
She established her private office in 1992 and partnered with Engineer Charles Kassab at the "Damascus Atelier for Architecture," where she completed hundreds of projects in design, executive studies, supervision, auditing, and preparation of technical specifications and bills of quantities. She participated in local and international architectural competitions and won significant awards, including first prize in the Great Al-Fateh Tower Competition in Libya, first prize in the Damascus International Airport Staff Housing Competition, and first prize in the Prince Hotel Competition in Damascus.
In addition to her professional work, she has extensive academic experience. She has been a faculty member at the College of Architectural Engineering at Damascus University since 2003 and at the Arab International University since 2008. She has also taught at Al-Qalamoun University and the International University for Science and Technology. She has been a member of the editorial board of the "Engineering Innovations" journal since 2002.
Her projects have varied between commercial towers (Tala Tower – Queen Center), hotels (Al-Shurfa Hotel in Mashta Al-Helou), schools (Damascus National School), administrative buildings, mosques, churches, residential villas, as well as adaptive reuse and restoration projects in Damascus, its countryside, and various Syrian and Lebanese regions. She has also participated in interior design and decoration work for private buildings and in the preparation of executive plans for cultural and commercial projects in collaboration with several specialized architects.
She has participated in international workshops and conferences, including the Tokyo Conference on Architecture (2011), and has presented significant planning studies, such as the redevelopment of the old Damascus International Fairground. She has been a member of the Syrian Scientific Association for Informatics since 2000 and has a keen interest in solar energy and sustainability in architecture.
She is proficient in using modern design software such as AutoCAD and Archicad, as well as Microsoft Office programs, and has extensive experience in preparing computerized executive files.
