Ontologies-Based Business Integration
E-business integration is a vision we have developed over a long period of time. As we have worked in business practice for many years prior to and in parallel with our academic research, we have always thought of such - tegration not only as an intellectual challenge but also as a real business tool. Consequently, when we started our project on Ontologies-based R- onciliation for Business Integration (ORBI) in 2004, not only pure science but also business objectives were at the center of our research. We were very happy to be able to form a project consortium that consisted not only of renowned researchers but also of experienced business practitioners from a range of companies. Each played a specific role – as user, provider or co-developer of the application components that are based on the me- ods we have developed. So may this book find its way not only to the desks of researchers and students, but also into the offices and minds of business practitioners worldwide who are dealing with the challenge of integrating their business processes, applications and information.

Oil and Security : A World Beyond Petroleum
This book examines the economic impact of changes in the global demand and supply for fossil fuels both on the major producers in Middle Eastern countries around the Persian Gulf, other producers, as well as the world at large. The economic, social and political life of most countries is not only intimately linked to and influenced by the energy market but also affected by historical developments. Among other issues, it shows how the economic, social and political development of societies in Arabia, the peoples of the Arab Peninsula are influenced by their historic and cultural environment, and what the future may bring to this region when their principal economic assets, petroleum and gas, start to lose markets as alternative sources of fossil fuel, alternative, and renewable energy supply the bulk of global energy needs. It also describes how changing fossil fuel costs, access, security of supply, and environmental impacts may affect future economic, social, and political developments as well as technological advances and changes in priorities.
Offshore Risk Assessment : Principles, Modelling and Applications of QRA Studies
This updated and expanded second edition has been informed by a major R&D programme on offshore risk assessment in Norway (2002–2006), and reflects the trend of expanded use of floating production installations. It starts with a thorough discussion of risk metrics and risk analysis methodology with subsequent chapters devoted to analytical approaches to escalation, escape, evacuation and rescue analysis of safety and emergency systems. Separate chapters analyse the main hazards of offshore structures: fire, explosion, collision and falling objects. Risk mitigation and control are discussed, as well as an illustration of how the results from quantitative risk assessment studies should be presented. The second edition has a stronger focus on the use of risk assessment techniques in the operation of offshore installations. Also decommissioning of installations is covered.

Oceans and Health: Pathogens in the Marine Environment
The importance of combating infectious diseases has received international attention, p- viding the opportunity for a multidisciplinary approach that combines medicine with other scientist candtechnological capabilities, notably information technology, nanotechnology, and biotechnology. In fact, it has been predicted that the future will bring a merging of these te- nologies with the cognitive and behavioral sciences.. The connection between infectious diseases and the oceans provides a paradigm for this perspective. A stark global context indisputably frames all human health issues in the twenty century: the world wide movement of people and goods. Throughout the past half century, international travel has skyrocketed; there are more than 500 million international arrivals per year. The greatest increase has taken place since the mid-1990s. The world has become integrated and global; consequently, the notion that it is possible to successfully eradicate a disease from the face of the planet has become simplistic. Infectious disease is a moving target and climate shifts will affect any disease that has an environmentally sensitive stage or vector.
Nurturing Science-based Ventures : An International Case Perspective
The challenge is to nurture entrepreneurial skills and ambitions in science and engineering academic students in the hope that they will consider the starting of a new business based on their research as a compelling alternative to more traditional employment opportunities. The book by Seifert, Leleux and Tucci addresses this challenge. … designed as a teaching support for courses on science-based entrepreneurship and it primarily targets engineering and science students. The book focuses on science based ventures that originate in technological break throughs, but entrepreneurs from all backgrounds can learn from it. Nurturing Science-Based Ventures charts the development of a new venture through five chapters.
Numerical Treatment of Partial Differential Equations
In 1988 we started work on the frst German edition of our book, which appeared in 1992. Our aim was to give students a textbook that contained the basic concepts and ideas behind most numerical methods for partial di?er- tial equations. The success of this frst edition and the second edition in 1994 encouraged us, ten years later, to write an almost completely new version, taking into account comments from colleagues and students and drawing on the enormous progress made in the numerical analysis of partial di?erential equations in recent times. The present English version slightly improves the third German edition of 2005: we have corrected some minor errors and added additional material and references.
Numerical Optimization : Theoretical and Practical Aspects
This book starts with illustrations of the ubiquitous character of optimization, and describes numerical algorithms in a tutorial way. It covers fundamental algorithms as well as more specialized and advanced topics for unconstrained and constrained problems. Most of the algorithms are explained in a detailed manner, allowing straightforward implementation. Theoretical aspects of the approaches chosen are also addressed with care, often using minimal assumptions. It's contains computational exercises in the form of case studies which help understanding optimization methods beyond their theoretical, description, when coming to actual implementation. Besides, the nonsmooth optimization part has been substantially reorganized and expanded.

The mathematical concepts behind the algorithms are clearly explained, with plenty of code examples and illustrations to help even beginners get started. You will: Program in Java using a high-performance numerical library / Learn the mathematics for a wide range of numerical computing algorithms / Convert ideas and equations into code / Put together algorithms/ and classes to build your own engineering solution / Build solvers for industrial optimization problems / Do data analysis using basic and advanced statistics
Numerical Approximation Methods for Elliptic Boundary Value Problems : Finite and Boundary Elements
Although the aim of this book is to give a unified introduction into finite and boundary element methods, the main focus is on the numerical analysis of boundary integral and boundary element methods. Starting from the variational formulation of elliptic boundary value problems boundary integral operators and associated boundary integral equations are introduced and analyzed. By using finite and boundary elements corresponding numerical approximation schemes are considered.
NSTAR 2007 ; Proceedings of The 11th Workshop on The Physics of Excited Nucleons, 5–8 September 2007, Bonn, Germany
The excitation spectrum of the nucleon offers insights into the non-perturbative regime of QCD. The NStar workshops are a series of meetings that bring together experimenters and theoreticians working on baryon resonances and related areas. This work covers the proceedings that constitute an archival record of the progress in the field.
Nonsmooth Analysis
The book treats various concepts of generalized derivatives and subdifferentials in normed spaces, their geometric counterparts (tangent and normal cones) and their application to optimization problems. It starts with the subdifferential of convex analysis, passes to corresponding concepts for locally Lipschitz continuous functions and finally presents subdifferentials for general lower semicontinuous functions. All basic tools are presented where they are needed; this concerns separation theorems, variational and extremal principles as well as relevant parts of multifunction theory. The presentation is rigorous, with detailed proofs. Each chapter ends with bibliographic notes and exercises.
Nonparametric Functional Data Analysis : Theory and Practice
Modern apparatuses allow us to collect samples of functional data, mainly curves but also images. On the other hand, nonparametric statistics produces useful tools for standard data exploration. This book links these two fields of modern statistics by explaining how functional data can be studied through parameter-free statistical ideas. This book starts from theoretical foundations including functional nonparametric modeling, description of the mathematical framework, construction of the statistical methods, and statements of their asymptotic behaviors. It proceeds to computational issues including R and S-PLUS routines. Several functional datasets in chemometrics, econometrics, and pattern recognition are used to emphasize the wide scope of nonparametric functional data analysis in applied sciences. The companion Web site includes R and S-PLUS routines, command lines for reproducing examples presented in the book, and the functional datasets. Rather than set application against theory, this book is really an interface of these two features of statistics. A special effort has been made in writing this book to accommodate several levels of reading.
Nonlinear Dimensionality Reduction
This book describes existing and advanced methods to reduce the dimensionality of numerical databases. For each method, the description starts from intuitive ideas, develops the necessary mathematical details, and ends by outlining the algorithmic implementation. Methods are compared with each other with the help of different illustrative examples. The purpose of the book is to summarize clear facts and ideas about well-known methods as well as recent developments in the topic of nonlinear dimensionality reduction. With this goal in mind, methods are all described from a unifying point of view, in order to highlight their respective strengths and shortcomings.

New Vision of Multiblesclerosis
"There is an evidence that both the multiple sclerosis increased prevalence and incidence rate of over the last few decades. Therefore, the goal of our study is to highlight the causes and the risk factors of such neurological disease in order to raise the public awareness for its early symptoms to be able to treat the patients as early as possible and to have the best outcome. The symptoms of this disease are similar to some extent to other diseases so we will design a table and a test for differential diagnosis with such diseases because there is not a specific diagnostic test also taking into consideration to include in our current project A new promising medication (Radicava)which was first approved by FDA in 2015 in Japan 20 years after all old mentioned medications in this study and we started communication with a brilliant neurological doctor to plan using it first time ever in our country. Beside that we will recommend some important diet to follow for patients and some advises to avoid some risk factors which can develop this disease."
New Trends of Surgery for Cerebral Stroke and its Perioperative Management
In July 2004 specialists in neurosurgery, neuroradiology, neurology and neurointensive care discussed recent trends at the 2nd Swiss Japanese Joint Conference on Cerebral Stroke Surgery, held in Zurich, Switzerland. New concepts were worked out during the conference and are published in this volume. The book starts with the topic intracranial aneurysms, discussing microsurgical and endovascular treatment modalities, as well as new surgical approaches. Further chapters deal with the management of unruptured aneurysms and with subarachnoid hemorrhage. Practical guidelines for vasospasm treatment are given. Together with contributions about arteriovenous malformations and fistulas, cerebral revascularization techniques and surgery related to the intracranial venous system a comprehensive overview about stroke surgery is given with an interdisciplinary approach. The book will be of interest for all specialists involved in therapy of cerebrovascular disease.
New pharmacological hypothesis for cancer therapy and treatment
Despite the considerable development of new cancer drugs the mortality remains high and the improvement in survival rate remains poor compared to the number of new concepts of cancer therapy in which we will review in our study and we will focus on two possible reasons for that delay in success such as the limitation of diagnostic tools to perform early detection for the tumor in a stage where it can be well treated or even cured as it is often a silent disease in the start phase of it...
New Light on Dark Stars : Red Dwarfs, Low-Mass Stars, Brown Stars
There has been very considerable progress in research into low-mass stars, brown dwarfs and extrasolar planets during the past few years, particularly since the fist edtion of this book was published in 2000. In this new edtion the authors present a comprehensive review of both the astrophysical nature of individual red dwarf and brown dwarf stars and their collective statistical properties as an important Galactic stellar population. Chapters dealing with the observational properies of low-mass dwarfs, the stellar mass function and extrasolar planets have been completely revised. Other chapters have been significantly revised and updated as appropriate, including important new material on observational techniques, stellar acivity, the Galactic halo and field star surveys. The authors detail the many discoveries of new brown dwarfs and extrasolar planets made since publication of the first edition of the book and provide a state-of-the-art review of our current knowledge of very low-mass stars, brown dwarfs and extrasolar planets, including both the latest observational results and theoretical work.
