As withevery beginning, the resonanceonour callsin today's overfoodingof workshops was somewhat unpredictable, and we did not really know how many paper submissions to expect. We were nicely surprised, considering the rather short lead time to organize the meeting and the very specialized and focused topic.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of two colocated international workshops EPEW 2005 (European Performance Engineering Workshop) and WS-FM 2005 (Web Services and Formal Methods) held in Versailles, France in September 2005.
