Reflect the principles and current practice of oncology with contributors from the fields of medical, surgical, and radiation oncology. Neuroacanthocytosis Syndromes II
Awareness of neuroacanthocytosis disorders has increased significantly in recent years. There have been a number of important developments in the field since the publication of the first volume, Neuroacanthocytosis Syndromes. This book contains the latest research in this area. Recent advances have identified the range of mutations in the causative genes, shedding light on potential phenotypegenotype correlations. Mix-Design and Application of Hydraulic Grouts for Masonry Strengthening
Provides guidance for the rational design and application of hydraulic grouts, based on a series of specific data (type of masonry, voids' width, targeted strength and durability level, available materials, etc.). To this end, the basic characteristics of a grout, i.e. its injectability (penetrability, fluidity and stability), its strength and durability, are taken into account by means of rational models and quantified expressions of all grout-design parameters. Thus, a holistic, rational mix design methodology for optimization of grout composition is given, permitting the preliminary design of grouts, without having to resort to multiple tests in advance.
Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery and Neurotraumatology
Neurotraumatology patients present an enormous challenge to society. Neuros- gical management of brain and spinal cord injury has been a frustrating area, as s- gical methods, especially in moderate and severe injuries, have been limited to control of brain and spinal compression, control of intracranial pressure with its expected effect on cerebral blood flow, and structural repair of the supporting structures (skull, spine, brain and spinal cord coverings). Achieving the best outcome for the neu- traumatology patient, however, requires much more than that.
Microbial Phosphate Solubilization
Last decade has seen a significantly increased knowledge about phosphate solubilizing microorganisms. Sixty specialists from thirteen countries met in Salamanca to discuss the problems of the high P-unavailability as a soil nutrient for crops, and the hazards of an increasing phosphate input to aquatic habitats from industrial and mining activities, sewage disposal, detergents, and other sources. Updated solutions to enhance P-uptake by plants, bioremediation potential in the rehabilitation of ecosystems, taxonomic characterization interactions with mycorrizae, the physiological and molecular basis of PSM, and possibilities of genetic modifications of rhizospheric microorganisms were among the contributions presented. Challenges in commercializing a phosphate solubilizing microorganism were also outlined by a relevant biotech company.

Interface oral health science 2014 : Innovative research on biosis-abiosis intelligent interface
The Tohoku University Graduate School of Dentistry first introduced the concept of “Interface Oral Health Science”, designed to establish and maintain healthy oral cavities, which are home to a number of mixed systems. Included in those systems are: (1) host tissues such as teeth, mucosa, muscle and bone, (2) parasites and microorganisms cohabiting the surfaces of the oral cavity, and (3) biomaterials that are used for the rehabilitation of oral functions. In addition, (4) these systems are subject to severe and complex mechanical forces. Therefore, it is critical to promote dental studies that integrate a wide range of interdisciplinary research as medicine, agriculture, material science, engineering, and pharmacology.
